Ignoring what your body tells you.
I have been so stupid for many years until the last two years. For the longest time I swore the less I did the better I looked and the bigger I got. I didn't want to appear to be lazy and many of my friends did so much more that I felt like I had to. I guess I was a weak minded pussy for following what others said/did. On chest training for instance: I always felt better/bigger got stronger if I only did two exersizes for it. Trained heavy 6reps or so. Maybe inclines and flys. [Flys 8-10reps] Lota people I know do four. The last two years I've basically thrown in lateral raises after incline presses and people are always asking what I do for shoulders. [I actually hate to say,...'uh, not a hell of a lot'! I am guessing that is one of the things a pro finds out early on...to listen to his/her body and go with what works. I read the calf thread and was thrilled....It seemed to me that if I threw in calf raises on the leg press 5 sets, maybe six until I couldn't contract the muscle hard that was enough. Many guys do an assload more than 5 sets of 8-10 reps on calves. Mine are 19 and 3/4. I wish I'd had someone to talk to or learn from that actually knew what was up early on. This is a good board and I appreciate any additional comments from the pro's or near pros on the board. I am amazed when I read about Ronnie training so hard 6days a week. Is that shit for real? I wouldn't grow that way. [I know from bitter expirience.

Listen to your body and do what works for you. Never get dragged into someone elses program. It takes long enough to find the combinations of exercise, sets and reps as well as how many days a week to train. Then you have to find the diet that works for you. And the AAS quantities and combinations that work for you. Once you find out all of this, stick with it until you no longer make progress. Then ask yourself what you can do to get past this. PB
