Depends on what makes one "BETTER" in your mind....I would say he is the bottom of the list as far as guitar players.....Randy Rhodes, eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, Tommy Emmanuel and the list goes on.......

Very well respected in heavy metal.

I actually liked his stuff later in Lynch mob vs. his early Dokken years which he is most known for.

Dokken was a good band,but one of those bands which everything starts sounding the same due to very unique vocals.

Actually , many people don't know this but he was one of Ozzies long list of guitar players.

Steven Vai is incredible,he doesn't fit well with complete bands though.

He did great for a few years with David Lee Roths solo albums.

He is best in a solo type atmosphere where he is the show case.Problem is it's hard to watch a whole concert of guitar solo,that has been a problem for Vai's career.

Pretty good movie he was in......Crossroads with Ralph Machio......you never see that movie around but it was pretty good I thought. All be it that I saw it about 23 years ago or so,
