keep re-injuring this in my leg, anyone else have this problem. anytime i get above 1200 or so on the leg press or 500 in the squat it blows out. my old training partner who dumped me for flex lewis has the same problem, anyone else?? phil will dis-own me if i can't knock out some sick squats and my legs were starting to blow up. was up to 525x10 to parallel followed by 385x22 ass on the floor, now i just walk with a limp.:( this sucks ass.

For comparison. I am at 315-335x10 to parallel and 225lbs to the floor for 16-18 reps!

Let me look through the ortho sportsmedicine journals and see what i can find.
 
At the hip its where it rolls over the hip bone. I have the same problem and the more i aggrivate it the more the pain spreads into my groin.

Solution: good antiinflammatories, stretch out quads and hip flexors along with glutes, get blood flow in there usint lighter higher reps for full ROM, and ultrasound if you can get it. A doc should be able to prescribe PT with ultrasound for you if u need it. It will eventually work its self out.

Stretches are right and Recovery work is similar, but that is for pain in the knee. this is at the hip with no radiation down the leg.
 
compression seems to help, i wrapped it up good and it helped alot. i found a site that sells a wrap/band that goes around the thigh might try it out.

The IT band is kinda like a mix of muscle and tendon. So you basically have to treat it like tendonitis.

All the above idea's are great.....ice, stretching, ultrasound and compression.

If your weren't carrying around all that damn muscle you wouldn't have this problem..LOL.
 
Get some soft tissue work done if you can (ART or GT), make sure you dont have a unilateral imbalance between your add- and abd-ductors.

Check your posture to make sure your feet dont turn outward.

Have someone look at your hip mechanics and check your TFL.

Use RICE in the meantime.

I HAVEN'T SQUATED ABOVE 500 FOR YEARS NOW SINCE I INCURRED THE SAME INJURY YOU DID.....RIGHT UP THERE IN THE HIP....MINE TURNED BLACK AND BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF MY THIGH...I WALKED WITH A LIMP FOR 2 WEEKS....IT SUCKED AND NOW I AM AFRAID TO REINJURE IT. I DON'T WANT TO CRIPPLE MYSELF.

I HAD TO USE ONE OF THOSE WHITE ROLLER THINGS TO HELP STRETCH OUT THE AREA. I BELIEVE I HAVE A DEFINITE STRENGTH IMBALANCE BETWEEN ABDUCTOR/ADDUCTORS....MY OUTER QUADS AND HIPS FEEL LIKE AN IRON SHEATH...I LAY ON MY SIDE WITH A PILLOW IN BETWEEN MY KNEES SO I CAN SLEEP WITHOUT PAIN.

Yes! I trained legs yesterday and my quads ached all night long! Could hardly get to sleep! But man, my legs are gettin' they're "size on." They're getting so big, I'm afraid I won't be able to sit on the crapper one day!

Add me to that list. I've gotten flare-ups twice now in the hip.

My deadlifts and squats have pretty much maxed out and are not going anywhere. I can't go any heavier and it hurts to get what I get.

I am going to look at orthotics as I feel I definitely need them and some massage therapy, either that will correct it, or I'm pretty much done with those exercises. :eek:
 
maybe after it heals i will stay at 405 and just keep adding reps. its the heavy heavy weight that seems to injure it and if i stay under a certain amount it seems ok. new goal 405x25, 365x30. 500 days are gonna have to end i am afraid. gonna get some soft tissue work done to it and see what my doc says.
 
interesting, i can do leg ext with no pain at all. so i guess its leg ext to failure for a couple weeks phil, i know how much you love that exercise but at this point its better than noth'in. besides my buddy eatbig2getbig is coming home for a visit in a few weeks, its better this way i didnt wanna make the california pretty boy look bad in the squat rack:D :p
