Just Got Back From Hospital - Cellulitis!

It's not from what you think!

I've had periodontal disease since I was about 23. I get infections, but I just clean my teeth extra hard and rinse a LOT with antiseptic mouth wash. Once, in the past, it got bad enough, the dentist had to give me antibiotics to get rid of it.

About Tues evening, my right upper side of teeth started to get pussed up - I knew what to do. I couldn't get it to clear up and Friday, my face started to swell. I waited until this evening to go into the hospital as it's pretty evident by my swollen face that's it's gettin serious.

The gave me 1,000 mg shot of Rocephin. I actually ordered some of this from a European pharn but it got snagged by customs!! (it's supposed to be the "BEST" antibiotic out there) The nurse that gave me the shot was "experienced" and mixed it with Lidocaine. She said the first time she gave Rocephin to a grown man (without lidocaine), it made him cry like a baby! She did a good job, injecting it VERY slow, and it didn't hurt a bit.

They gave me a script for 10 days of Keflex 2-500mg caps, 2x daily.

When this flares up, my breath really stinks. For those of you that know what happened to my GF, she's nothing but "honest" now - says what's on her mind - doesn't hold back (guess brain surgery will do that to a person). She kept telling me how bad my breath was . But, she did say if that's all she had to complain about me, she could live with that

Hey Xcell and everyone I am sord of back I guess you could say. I have PCS to Korea. I was just looking around to see all the familiar faces glad everyone is ok. Just wanted to say hope you feel better Xcell and your infection goes away. Yes rocephine is pretty strong stuff they clean your insides out with it drench you with it suck it out before sewing you back up to prevent infection. Anyway get well soon. MM

Good God, you had that in your teeth . My feelings go out to you.
I know first hand how painfull that is. Had cellulitis in my elbow.
I wanted to die.

I'm glad your going to be ok. Cellulitis is NOTHING to mess around with. I had it in my arm when I was younger and I can remember the pain and seeing the infection travel up my arm. That stuff will kill you if it is not taken care of. I'm glad you got that taken care of because those infections are nothing to play around with.

Thanks for all your replies and well wishes. I remember Hernon talking about how bad cellulitis is and when I found out I had it, I about shit - from my teeth, no less!
