They didn't control calories. The liquid group consumed more calories. That makes this essentially a satiety study, not an accurate comparison between liquid and solid consumption.

Over the last few decades in the gym I have noticed that all the big, strong, large muscled, 500lb. benchers had one thing in common. They ate real food. That applied to enhanced or not. I went to a seminar in the early 90's , were several pro's answered questions. And Mike Matarazzo would answer most questions with the same answer "eat more food". I have found it to be true for myself.
