Looking for a trainer...

what sort of things should I look for in a trainer to help me with comp prep? Only thing I think of is track record with other contestants they have trained etc. I live in a majour center in South Western Ontario anyone know of specific Canadian courses etc that a good trainer would have. I work out at Bally's and non of the trainers there are even remotely qualified for this type of thing. I know a few guys from my gym that compete but they do it on there own.

worked with others and is a credible well spoken of person, most trainers do not have any idea how to get a person in on stage shape. Not worth the time and $$ their are people on this board that will help, but its better to have a person that can monitor your progress physically, more so then on pics on the computer. One piece of information that I can give u is choose one and only one, everyone and their brother will want to help and give u some info and how they do things, stick to one person listen to them and keep with their theory of dieting, nutrition, and training.

I agree with bold 100% I think pics can be hard to tell at times so I am looking for someone that is local. Especially cause I have zero precontest experience and everything I have been told the last week needs to be 100% on spot. I also agree that I am going to have to listen to them and only them as I have never done this before and I don't want to be second guessing them.

i haven't seen a pic in a while but i think you are too feminine for bb'ing. Either way you decide to go, just make sure the trainer specializes in that particular area. your progress has been great from what i have seen.

Thanks Saint female BB has changed a bit over the last year it not as harsh as it once was I like the look a lot more now. I still have a fair bit of fat on me right now I am at about 18%. I will have a better idea of which direction to go once I get to 14% see what kind of muscle volume I have then. Maybe I will actually have the courage to post some pics then. :eek:

Well, I think if you talk to a few people on here, they can really help you or lead you in the right direction.

I WOULD NOT use a trainer at your local gym...unless they have competed and done well.

Ask around here, there are tons of good people...PHIL, RICPHOENIX, WYLDE, LYNX(female), MRS. KH, XCEL, and a host of others.

I know that JETHRO guided Lynx (and basically what they did). If you've seen both their pics, they KNOW what they're doing! :) ;)

HERE ARE MY 2 CENTS.....PICK SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE YOU'D WANT TO LOOK LIKE AND FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID. FOR EXAMPLE....ONE OF MY BUDDIES WON THE EMERALD CUP IN 95...HE BEAT AARON MADDRON. HE HAD SHREDDED GLUTES AND LOOKED FRIGGING AWESOME. I WANTED TO WIN A SHOW AND TALKED WITH HIM IN DETAIL ABOUT WHAT HE DID. THEN I WAS WILLING TO DO IT.....THAT'S THE HARD PART. I WON MY SHOW AND IT WAS DUE TO MY CONDITIONING. [THANK GOD!]

I HAVE A GOOD IDEA WHAT IT TAKES TO GET SHREDDED...I KNOW I CAN DO THAT. MY NEXT PLAN IS TO TALK WITH PHIL CAUSE I WANT TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO TO COME IN HUGE, HUGE, HUGE AND SHREDDED. WHEN THAT TIME COMES...I WILL PICK HIS BRAIN AND DO WHAT HE SAYS.

ONCE YOU MAKE A PLAN ....LISTEN TO THAT ONE PERSON...DON'T SECOND GUESS IT LATER WHEN YOUR BRAIN IS ALL GOOFED UP FROM DIETING..DON'T START CHANGING YOUR LIFTING OR YOUR EATING OR YOUR CARDIO..STAY WITH THE PLAN. FOR EXAMPLE I TRAINED TWO DAYS ON, ONE OFF AND I MEAN COMPLETELY OFF..AND STUCK IT OUT EVEN WHEN I FELT LIKE I SHOULD TRAIN EVERY DAY! I NEEDED THE REST.
:)
TONS OF PEOPLE WILL OFFER ADVICE..IGNORE IT AND STAY WITH THE PLAN.
