measuring meat

do u guys measure your chicken, fish, red meat etc. before or after cooking?
 
After.

You lose a lot of weight when you cook meat. I typically eat 10 oz of steak/chicken per meal. Thats probably more like 14 oz. uncooked...

The nutritional value of protiens (including eggs) that you see in books and on labels is before cooking. Cooking reduces the amount of fat and moisture in meats only. It does not change the amount of protein in the meat. Weighing your meat after cooking will mean that you are eating more protein than you originally intended as the meat weighs less after cooking. The amount that you are getting is minor...but if you are dieting...

You wouldnt weigh your eggs after cooking would you?
 
im def. not dieting right now....im in a growth phase

lol im eating plenty i was just curious. Even when im not dieting down i still keep close watch on what kinds of calories im taking in. I keep it as clean as possible just lots of cals.

Keep it clean-just check you progress in the mirror...an ounce or two of lean protein here and there isnt going to hurt!

I weigh my meat before I cook it.
 
I weigh mine raw, must be an aussie thing.
As long as you're consistent with the way you measure it, you should be able to make adjustments as necessary.
