Which would you guys say are more important, Carbs before lifting or carbs after lifting? Assuming both were the same and came from good sources like whole wheat pasta.

Carbs after. 50-100g of dextrose carbs is what I do after every workout. Carbs before make me tired half way through my workout. I usually eat carbs 2 hours prior to my workout also.
 
As Alcatraz stated - simple carbs after you workout. You should have adequate glycogen stores and BF to get you through a workout - that is unless you are working out "longer" that you should be :p

Whole grain carbs= before w/o

Simple carbs= after w/o
