Hey ladies and gents,

My younger brother is 24 and wants to start to train and eat healthy. Thats why I'm coming to you guys to ask for your expertise on giving him the best beginners workout and nutrition outline. For starters he is 24 years old 5'11 and weighs 204lbs with 23% bf. I could give him a beginners workout and nutrition outline but he doesn't want to listen to his older brother...lol. So I will ask for your help he wants to lose fat obliviously and build muscle. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

Isn't it funny, how relatives will not listen to family but they will listen to strangers!! I will give you the same advice you were going to give him probably. LOL. Maybe start off with a three day lifting program and 4-5 days of cardio to get his BF levels down. maybe look at splitting the muscles up like Chest and back one day, legs and shoulders the next workout and arms on the third session. I personally like to train arms on their own (tri's and bi's one session). You can obviously split the workouts up any way you like. I like a bigger volume approach to training but maybe look at three working sets per exercise and keep the bigger compound movements in the training for now. Keep his diet clean and have him drink plenty of water through the day and while training. 5-6 good clean meals a day with lots of quality protein. This is basic and should be easy for him to follow. hahaha thats funny I train with phil and getting excellent results my brother still won't listen bc he is not that serious about changing his diet to what phil has me on which is alot of fruit. If maybe he can go to the gym three days week and bunch of cardio it will be a good start for him. He loves his carb...breads, pasta, and popcorn lol. He is a good kid just needs to hear it from someone else not his older brother...go figure :rolleyes:

There is actaully a term for this "proximity bias"

I would have him follow Oldfella which sounds good and just add for him to stay consistant every week and don't miss or skip workouts or cheat with meals and diet to often. I see it all the time. People at work complaining ther not getting the resultsthey want when they miss 2 workouts every week and hit up Dunkin Donuts on the way in after the gym.
 
how about supplements guys for beginners?
I think that bias thing you were referring to sound right.....my brother won't listen to me but if someone else tells him something I already told him he will do it...wtf lol!!

you have to break it to him straight and tell him that if he gives Phil's training some time he will understand and know that its really worth it.
