Natural Diruetics for high sodium diets?

Other than cardio, what do you guys do who have high sodium diets to keep bp and water down? Im presuming taking a baby amout of a true diruetic can have long term health risks, but what about natty diruetics or methods like the sauna? Just curious. Thanks

dandelion root (taraxicum officinale) works very well. It is rich in potassium, so does not carry the same risks as loop diuretics and will spare potassium in the body. It is also good for your liver.

Edit: according to the article, the leaves are what produce the diuretic effect and not the root.

Green Tea (I like Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus) Zero everything (60mg per serve of sodium) but is Tea is a great natural diuretic

Ive had good luck with dandelion root and uva ursi leaves . Cheap at Hi Health .

I just up my water and potassium (either through potassium-rich foods or the 99mg pills) when needed. I guess the main thing is to correct the Na+ problem though if needed. If it doesn't effect my BP, then I usually leave Na+ as is....or unless it makes me look really soft.

I don't know if you have ever visited the site cuttingedgemuscle, but they have some informative posts on HCTZ. Not sure you want that as an option, but it is a weak diuretic, and can do wonders. Big Cat, Nandi, and some others have some posts on it there from a few years ago. A lot of people use it on cycle, and it seems to be highly liked when on Oxymetholone cycles. Just something to read up on if you haven't already:)

So potassium will help huh? I do have a very high sodium diet and dont supplement with it. Will it help with water loss or just overal health? Whats a good dose? Maybe 100mg with breakfast and 200 before bed?
