Sourdough for high carb

Had a carb day. Didn’t feel like potatoes or rice and I had massive amounts shit to do.

Bought a loaf of sourdough, totaling about 275g carbs in the whole thing. Also bought a jug of smuckers no sugar added jelly.

Feel really good today. Usually I feel a little lethargic and gut irritated when I try cereal or grains beyond just a one-off meal. Found out I digest it very well.

Anyone else do sourdough? I know fuck all about bread, but seems the lactic acid and lower gluten makes it much more tolerable for some

I tolerate bread good and i like it

Never had problem but maybe bread here is diferent dunno
 
I love good bagels, blueberry, cinnamon raisin etc. if I’m going over 500 grams carbs on my high carb day I eat them to get my carbs in. I agree the bagels for me sit better and also a welcome change to the carbs I normally (rice and oats) eat on low carb days.
 
My wife makes multiple sourdough loaves/stuff a week. I was able to talk my coach into letting me have her English muffins for my pre meal. They are cinnamon flavored and I toast them and add banana and a little grape jelly. So fucking good.

Prior to picking up a coach my plan was to use a ton of sour dough. Pasta, bagels, English muffins, and of course regular bread. But, that didn’t happen. Pounding rice lol



You haven’t lived till you’ve cut open a fresh, still hot bagel and covered it with keri gold butter and eaten it.

Sourdough is anabolic AF
 
Wife has been on a sourdough baking kick so I eat a good amount. That and bagels are the only bread products I eat though.

Sourdough toasted with a lil bit of that I can’t believe it’s not butter spray? 🤤
 
Compared to regular leavened bread, sourdough has been shown to have less of an impact on blood sugar levels and is lower on the glycemic index than other types of bread. The fermentation process used to make sourdough produces organic acids, such as lactic acid and acetic acid, that slow the absorption of starch in the digestive tract, which results in a slower rise in blood sugar.
 
I've been having sourdough with breakfast / pre-workout meal every day for a while now. I don't have problems with bread or gluten, and sourdough seems to digest even better than normal bagels and breads, English muffins, etc.

I've gotten really choosy with brands based mainly on the size of the slices, lol. Right now in prep (save for high day) I can't afford more than about 20 carbs from bread, so the HEB bakery brand with small slices is my go-to. A couple of other brands with much larger slices were great during off-season.
 
Sourdough is a staple of my high days with AJ in the offseason and early prep. Ideally you want it freshly baked without all the added crap. It’s great for gut health. John Meadows was a huge fan as well of it.
 
Sourdough wheat rye. Got this the other day at one of the many ‘boutique’ bakeries around here.

I like using sourdough cutting/bulking. Super easy to get down, great for gut health, and no prep involved. Especially if I’m feeling lazy with food prep there’s a bakery close to my house that makes the best sourdough
 
Jealous dude. For whatever reason I don’t digest breads well. I can eat pasta and wraps and be completely fine - but a loaf of bread and I’m a bloated lethargic pig 😕.
 
My go-to breakfast restaurant has a full bakery and one of their specialties is sourdough bread - it's the toast they serve with every meal. I love it because it's low in fat and high in carbs for relatively little volume of food.

Breads and rolls aren't things I go out of my way to eat but if it comes with a meal I always eat it and it digests well for me.
 
Sourdough has less gluten then most other breads. I find i hold 2-3 more pounds of water if i eat much traditional bread regularly. And don't feel as well so i eat them in occasionally. Sourdough seems to not cause quite as much inflammation so i eat it more regularly.

Does Ezekial bother your digestion? I actually prefer it over Sourdough for digestion personally.

It don’t bother me but I don’t really enjoy it lol. There was a time I would do the cinnamon raisin but ehhh I dunno it just doesn’t do it for me anymore.
