New Forum Rule Idea

Just throwing it out there, but I think it would be a good idea to have either a minimum post count requirement or a certain time after registering (1-2 months?) in order to start any new threads whatsoever EXCEPT in the beginner's forum. If a topic is deemed advanced discussion, it could be moved.

Just my opinion.

Or... They can read and adhere to the forum rules like theyre supposed to and begin posting immediately without the stupidity.

Good idea, but its hard keeping up with the board as is most of the time. There is a lot more deleting that you know.:D

It would only be a simple code added to vbulletin, nothing for moderators to do.

Yeah it could work

I think it's a good idea to implement an enrollment process, like being referred by an existing member or something. I think requiring a post count is only influencing irrelevant posts. I had a different username prior to this one, which was my first and last name and changed because of anonymity. I have been a member for a long time but don't live on the board, so by the time I read a post the chance of me replying means that I will most likely repeat what someone else has already stated. I don't feel that post counts are relevant to anything. Also, I am a user to actually use the search feature and read an existing post as opposed to posting something that has already been posted and getting the all too common reply of people telling me to use the search feature.

We've all seen supposed vets (post whores) give bad advice. A vet on another board once told me Bold acetate was EQ

Some good points made, I agree.

dont agree at all, whose to say that someone who just found this board is a "beginner", they might be pro or a doc, leave it to big a to make new rules, theres already enough and its tight enough as it is, i think its simi not needed but somewhat understandable to have 50 post min or 6 month to post in sponsor threads, they could still moderate whaterver they want anyway

The OP's idea would suit me under normal circumstances, however I come from another message board that I posted on very regularly. My post count is low here obviously, but that doesn't make me "t3h n00bz lol!1"

I usually see intelligent threads started, the only infraction might be failing to utilize the search button once in awhile but from what I've seen you guys seem to keep if professional. Hence, Professional Muscle. Props to you all! I love the board already

i find a recurring theme in many boards, somehow post count and join date influence knowledge and training level??????? i would love to hear a single valid reason proving this.

myself i began training LONG before there was even the internet, i bet this holds true for most guys here and all the mods.

being new to a forum doesnt make you new to bodybuilding.

i would say that a high post count and being a member for a long time DOES show that you might be mature; that you can post on an open forum without flaming, bashing, etc - things that would get you removed from that forum. i am sure many old timers here wanted to rip some idiot a new asshole occasionally, but restrained themselves, thus people that cannot control themselves on a keyboard end up being removed.

hey stewie griffon i would tell you this right to your face if i ever met you-i agree with your post:cool:
