Niacin and liver enzymes?

Been having slightly higher liver enzymes in my last 3 bloodtests



Supplements i take;
Berberine
Multi
Niacin
Fishoil
Vit D
Vit C
Magnesium


I am thinking the Niacin may be elevating my liver enzymes?

they are barely out of range, how close to the blood test did you train ?

this is no elevation of liver enzymes - enzymes around 100-150 are the norm for athletes who train hard
but yes, niacin in the non-flush version can even cause liver damage

Yes, it can raise liver enzymes.

You are not that high. Ive seen higher from someone on Tylenol/acetaminophen.

What dose are you taking?

I had raised levels for 30 years. Once i stopped the heavy training and lowered my protein intake down from 300+ grams a day they went back to the normal range. Both training and eating protein release the enzyme that is what is being tested for in the blood. No Dr. cared that my levels were high all those years as they knew what could raise them, especially after i schooled them on that.

I am taking 1000mg a day

Should i only take it post blast / during blasts to meditate cholestrol changes?


BTW these are my chol readings on 150mg test a week (cruise) so it is helping alot...

I'm wandering whether taking the flush nicotinic acid sublingually could be less hepatoxic?

My liver values were 62/63 for the alt and ast last January which I blamed on a drinking episode after the festive period I.e bottle of red a day... some days more . I also take niacin along many other health supps and I am also wandering is the red wine or the niacin the culprit given that alt ast ratio of 1 to 1 is sign of supps being toxic to the liver - that is from what I've read.
Not sure when will be the n3xt test.
And the cholesterol values at the time were also in range

My liver enzymes were less than that and my GP told me to give up all alcohol and caffeine. These people don't have brains. They have flowcharts.

I had a doctor who was a bodybuilder do my bloodwork once and he told me he doesn't consider liver enzymes an issue until they're over 100, particularly if you're on gear, a regular drinker, etc.

What kind of niacin? Not sure about non flushed .

Niacin in the form of nicotinic acid which causes you to turn red and itches, if dose goes above a certain amount (start small if you do it) does raise hdl cholesterol almost ten points on a decent dose. Ive had lab results for years hdl was 17, ast and alt were always 60-70. After Niacin in the form of nicotinic acid went to 25, and ast and alt increased a good 15-20 points, to 75-80, if I have that correct. something like that.

Could not convince Doctor training caused ast and alt enxymes to raise via muscle damage, something about eaking into the blood right? anyways, he did a ggt test, everything came back fine.

Currently dont use it, still have a bunch of powder sitting here.

I'm one of the older ones so I was always using Liv52 and other things until Synthergine came out.

Now any time I decide to bring orals in, I just grab a bottle of that. My labs are always good on it!
