O/T- Vacation to Bangkok, Thailand?

My workout buddy and I were talking the other day in the gym, trying to pick a spot for vacation-- We both have been stashing away a few dollars here and there and hopefully in 4-6 months we'll be able to go.

Anyone here vacation in Bangkok? Wheres the hot spot to go? What districts are safe for us Farangs, which ones should be avoided?

I'm excited not only to drink, party, and pound tiny thai hookers 2x at a time -- but I really hope to see something culturally significant while I'm there.

Any suggestions?

i've been to those places as well as my parent's country, cambodia. I was young wen i did go to those places so i couldn't tell you of any party spots.. and i can tell you if your from america, its like being a chick magnet. but anyways culturally it was great experience.. if you end up goin, you should stop by cambodia and see ''ankor wat", one of the wonders of the world.. pretty tight place

Believe me, if anyone is turned on by Asians, it's me. If anyone finds Thai girls sexy, it's me. My wife is Filipina- love the "exotic" look.

With that said, let me just throw something out there to think about- pretty much all the girls hooking there don't want to be there. Some have been sold to pimps by their families and will never be able to get out of it. The economy is so bad for so many that those who cannot go to college almost have no other choice than to do that for a living. Do some actually
"want" to in that job? Perhaps, but I would argue those are far and few between and probably come from a skewed and screwed up background (molestation, etc.)

Essentially- it turns them into objects and devalues their worth as a person. It teaches them, either consciously or unconsciously, that they have little value and have no respect for themselves.

Again, my friend, believe me, if I weren't married, I would be just as tempted to spend a week with a couple different girls there everyday... but, FOR ME, as I think past my horniness, blowing my load on a Thai hookers face isn't worth going against my conscious and hurting them in the long run.

NOT trying to rain on your parade- just giving you something to think about friend.

While it is in some cases true what you say, a large number of the girls are working there because they make significantly more money than they would otherwise. They weren't doing it against their will. Also it appears to be quite accepted culturally. An NGO survey of several thousand Thai men revealed that 81% of Thai men had visited a bar-girl in the last 6 months, and 97% of the Thai men surveyed had visited a bar-girl atleast once in their lifetime.

Please know I won't turn your thread into a discussion on morality, etc. I just wanted to briefly address the idea of cultural acceptance and the "norm." Though some things are culturally accepted, that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't cause harm. There are cultures in India where it is acceptable to place an infant girl in the woods to die b/c girls are a great financial burden to the family. The girls may see it as "normal" but only b/c some may not know any better. Some people in North Korea don't know anything but Kim Jong Il as their "god" b/c they are not allowed a radio, tv or internet. I guess my point is, even IF some girls choose to do this, it's b/c there is nothing better... if one of them could work in a store making the same amount of money, I would guess they would rather do that than suck on some beer-bellied middle-aged man's hard-on (NOT saying that's you! ) So, from a different view, you could say they are still doing it against their will... perhaps they have simply come to a resolve about it.

I was in Bangkok years ago so I'm sure much has
changed. And while I had a great time with all that
it has to offer, if I were go back now as a single guy,
I would not spend as much time in the city (that is
unless you find a very good reason to stay . . .) and
spend much more time in Phuket. Just as much to
offer in terms of what you are looking for by the tone
of your post, but also it is a much prettier place and
your money will last a lot longer there. Check it out.

Patpong (the entertainment district in Bangkok) was
the hot spot when I was there, totally off the hook.
Watch what you drink (literally; I suspect my beverage
was doped on my last night out) and be very very
careful with everything. While it is a safe place, just be
cautious, talk to the locals to get a sense of where
to go and not go, and what to be on the look-out for.

A good guide book will help you with the "culturally
significant" attractions, the other places you'll have to
learn by trial and error, which is half the fun.

Although I haven't been there I have a friend who works for the airlines as a mechanic and he used to go there regularly, he said Phuket was the place to see, and he said the girls were great and cheap, however he double wrapped if you know what I mean cuz as was already said they almost all have aids. if it were me and I was going I would go the the pharmacies in Bankok for some tubs of anabol ( pinkies)

Im in Pattaya, i got here last week and im staying for 2 months to train, eat and grow! haha It is crazy here for sure, last time(in Thailand) i stayed in Bangkok for a few weeks. Pattaya is only an hour or so from Bk. Im not here to party but it is Crazy lots of women and LOTS of ladyboys! They look better then the normal chicks! haha Just dont get tricked if your not into to that. If you want to train there are some good gyms down here. Tonys gym and Golden gym is were i been lifting. The food is GOOD and cheap and everyone is very nice. If you stay for an extended period of time you can get a decent place.
