Precisely. And so is abortion. Even if you believe abortion is murder, murder is a state crime. Most things should be state level issues, like drugs.
And by the way Gators, I and the other 4 in my household all proudly "wasted" our votes today.
Exactly my thoughts. Gay marriage is a victim-less crime, as is AAS use, and abortion is a difficult issue that should be left to the people of a state to decide.
Abortion is the one area that I disagree with Ron Paul, and the one area where I would have thought Flip Romney would have placed a safer bet and said to leave it up to the individual states. This way, you don't piss anyone off too much, and it is the logical thing to do in my opinion with a nation that is so divided on the issue. If the people of a certain geographical region (state) feel strongly about criminalizing abortion, let them do it, otherwise, don't get involved.
The other thing you have to consider is that abortion would not stop just because it was criminalized, it would just become far more dangerous and immoral. With people that planned to get an abortion deciding not to do so until later in the pregnancy, and in far shadier places such as Mexico. If the people of a state vote that it should not be allowed within the confines of their state, they can rest easy at night knowing that their vote effectively eliminated abortion there, while people can still travel to a neighboring state and get proper medical care.
I would personally not let my girl have an abortion, but I do not think it is the federal government's decision to make either.
Then we have all these people with their panties in a wad over gay marriage, largely the same crowd that is against the "war" on drugs. I am of the belief that people are free, and I mean that in every sense of the word, and so long as your actions do not directly hurt someone else, do whatever the fuck you want with your life.
Many may think I wasted my vote, being that I voted for Gary Johnson, but I think a strong showing for a libertarian candidate (respective to typical third party results) will help lead the way for a future in which libertarianism becomes more and more of the norm, and not simply recognized as someone from that Ron Paul cult.
I believe Obama and Romney are both absolute shit, but in hopes of not having the government tell me when I can see a doctor, where I can go for treatment, and what type of treatment I can receive, I am really hoping Romney pulls off the win and can repeal Obamacare.
