I think we have a few wrestlers here and was wondering. Since I get people asking me already if I'm a wrestler it got me thinking about it. How does a guy actually get into that?

I love your timing bro.

Knew the Road Warriors, Kurt Henning, Wayne "the Train" Bloom, and a number of others.

All went through Wrestling Camps run by promotors or former wrestlers (for a substantial fee - in the '80's at least $3000). These people then used their connections to get the really promising people they trained into first small, local matches, then if they proved popular, AND marketable (meaning they had some unique gimic or image), they'd move up the ranks.

The next time you see ole George Bush in your neck of the woods, you run up to him, put his ass in a head lock, do the cross face chicken wing on him and put the hammer down on his ass right there in the middle of the street! Trust me you will be the next big thing on the Pro wrestling circuit! :D

...

what do you want to know? first you gotta get trained at a school. in the first 15 min youll know if prowrestling is for you. the first time you hit the mat you love it or hate it. then find an indy promotion. learn to work on your timing and how to perform in front of people without screwing u at the indys. then make a dvd or tape and send it out. soemtimes you get in right away sometimes not. deppends on how much of a natural you are. if you are a natural athelete its a good possibility you will love the bumps, and all the contact. just remember....youve never done anything like this before. follow your instincts and dont complain of the pain. the brothers will not like it!!!
good luck and keep us posted.

i forgot....just cuase you look like a wrestler does not mean you can be one. as there were a whole bunch of guys who started school w us on a monday....by wed there ws me and one other guy left. each payed 2500 for 10 weeks of training. non refundable. i love when someone new gets in the ring, they take one clothsline and theyre eyes open up wide and are like holy shit tis is for real!!!!lol

Or,if you are from the ky area-try to start at OVW(ohio valley wrestling)-thats where a lot of the WWE wrestlers got drafted from(i see a lot of them wrestlers in my gym)-try their site for info www.ovw.com thats where they all start.

how do they decide who will be world champ on WWE?...alex

Go to wrestling school and pay your dues in the indy promotions for several years for next to no money while your driving thousands of miles in your own vehicle from show to show. Tough business with alot of bumps to be taken; are you sure you really want to be a wrestler? Most have political connections from their fathers that have already been in the business if you want to make it to the WWE.

Step 1. Drive to WWF Headquarters
Step 2. Follow some executives to a restaurant after work
Step 3. Go into the restaurant
Step 4. Make a complete ass out of yourself and cause a scene (punch a few people)
Step 5. They know retardation sells, so they will make you an offer

Find out what bar Pat Paterson drinks at, buy him a few and tell him you will do whatever it takes to get into the WWE and the rest will be history. If you wink at him while saying this, it might help.
For a good read and a lot of laughs along the way, go here:

Not really sure how much or any it for that matter is real, but it sure is entertaining. And I am willing to bet a very large % of it is real.

ovw is the wwe minor leauge. they own it. jerry lawler and jim cornette run it. you dont just start there. its there developmental system. batista and kurt angle were there for years.

Well, at 34 it sounds like I'm a bit old to get started in this game... And I didn't realize how much of an "insider" deal it is.

i saw the biography on the rock and hulk hogan, it really opened up my eyes as to how much work and sacrifice is involved in that sport...

they were literally driving around the country and sleeping in their cars making 100bucks (if that) for a match on the weekends... that is definatly not easy...

Some were working for free in ECW before they went under cause Heyman didn't have the money to pay them.

Haha that's funny, I see he was being sued for sexual harassment because another male employee didn't have sex with him and got fired. Billy Jack Haynes said that you better not drop the soap in the shower with all the homos they had back then, lol. Sad part is that many wrestlers had sex with him just to keep their job.

I made my living wrestling for about 5 years. I traveled all over the world and had the coolest life of anyone I knew. That being said I regret it everyday and would not recommend it to anyone. I am so beat up I can no longer workout or do basic things like hold my kids for more than a couple of minutes. Not everyone gets as beat up as me physically but most people just go down hill from the time they started in the biz. They just too caught up in the lifestyle and end up putting they're whole life on hold while they wait to "make it" or get that phone call from Vince. If your gonna do it I would hope that you already have a career and just consider wrestling a hobby you do on the weekends, be smart, don't let anyone talk you into anything you don't want to do, keep your pre-wrestling friends, and don't get caught up in the lifestyle or believe your own hype! Good Luck!

....

due to the fact i can be sued i wont say everyone who i worked for.
but i was a worker for 4 years and did pretty well. my gimmik was buff bagwells little brother which i didnt want to do but i had no choice.
ya i got the shit kicked out of me while in training to so many bumps i couldnt even walk when i left. but i was built like a bber. that got me more respect from some of the names which some guys ddnt get. i wasnt a jobber but if asked to " do the job" i did.inht e indy feds i held the tag tittles for almost a year, the interstate tittle and the last one i never got the heavywight tittle. i was a tag tittle holder _cw world tag champs when we beat dave and dean powers for the titles and i made the mistake of doing a show for another fed. i was the winner of a batle royal and it was a deccent payday so i did. the bigger fed owner showed up and caught about 12 of us at the show. the next big show we lost the straps and i was jobbed out to newer guys and forced to eat shit for a bit till i redeemed myself which i did. by the time i got back to mid card i hurt my shoulder and while healing got an almost fatal case of phnumonia. at that point the fed was bought by _ince and he shut it down and released a lot if guys. the whole gay thing was never around. when i got there i had a rep from being a bouncer for many years as well as had been a trainied mma fighter so all that as well as being 5"10" 250+ lb in deccent shape, i was left alone. once some of the names saw how much punnishment i took at the traiing and kept getting back up for more i was taken under some wings. i loved it, i miss it and would love to do it again. but a t 31 with the possibility f a serious injury and not wanting to be addicted to painkillers again....i think ill leave ot to yuounger guys.
but damn i miss the sweet pains and aches.....the pop of the crowd.... keeping kayfabe at hotels and hotel bars(where you could find all of us after the show.)....the black roller suitcases...the fanny packs......the steel chairs (which are 100% real)...and hearing the BAGWELL<BAWGELL<BAGWELL chant.....not drug or ammount of drinking can replace that feeling......what a freakin high!!!!!!!!!
