Hey Phil,

I just wanted to respond to a quote that you had in Heinz Sr's thread but it got locked. I never thought about what it would be like to get out of prison with nowhere to go and nobody there to help you. Anyhow I just wanted to say that although we have some fun going back and forth I have complete respect for all you have accomplished since getting out. I can't even imagine what that would be like.

Much respect.

HEY THANKS!

Agreed. Its always the stories like this where people have really had to buckle down and overcome a lot of adversity that garners my respect. Sink or Swim. Much respect to Phil for accomplishing everything he has today by his own merit.

Also, Kaiser had a great post in regards to hourly pay and people feeling they are too good. I know first hand that this country(economy and in th wake of a natural disaster) would not be in as bad of shape if more people felt this way rather than just sitting around feeling sorry for themselves.

Ive worked some rather terrible jobs myself, and it is hard to swallow your pride. I once did landscaping, waiting tables, and collections at a rent to own store. This was all after graduating from college with a 4 year degree from a good school too. It is hard to swallow your pride, but you do what you have to when you work a job that is "beneath you".

I respect someone who has done things like this more than someone who was given a full ride to MBA school at Harvard and has now inherited a stake in Daddy's company and earns $2M+/yr. Swallowing your pride and doing whatever needs to be done, rather than having a sense of entitlement, builds character.

I just had to swallow my pride today.

This economy has really hurt my business to point I had to ask for my old job back, that I quit fours years ago, to start my business. It's not fun. I can't help but feel a little ashamed of myself. But my family will not suffer because of my pride. I told my "old boss" I would take a lesser position, but luckily he wants to give me my old job back.

Good thing I didn't talk shit when I left, I really thought I wouldn't be going back. I'm just greatful I can pay my bills because of it. There's alot of people suffering in this country right now. And it looks like it's going to get worse.

Very important rule - never burn bridges!! It's paid for me several times as it has for you.

I think many of us have faced adversity in one form or another. The thing that distinguishes us from the sad sacks is our drive, determination and sheer fortitude to succeed. Been on the bones of my ass a couple of times. Dug ditches, cleaned tiolelts, bused tabels at a restaurant, yes a very humbling experience. But it is a matter of not giving up and not standing around crying the blues wishing a bag full of dolloars will fall from the sky!

It is people like us and many others I have so much respect for. Great people. Pleased to be among you all.

All the posts above are what makes this board so different from others. There is one thing everyone on here has in common, and that is perserverance, perserverance agains all obstacles. So ill second what oldfella said and say that its an honor to post amongst good people like you.

Another message to take home is.........be humble, do what you do with pride. Do it to the absolute best of your abilities and above all be thankful for what you get! Always be ready to help someone less fortunate than you!
