Planning out home gym, rubber flooring help??

Anyone have any cheap sources for rubber flooring to be put down in my home gym, or maybe some other options that may be less expensive than spending $400 plus on flooring.
The main room is going to be 18' by 18' with the possibility of using another 10' by 10' room as well for cardio equipment.

I am finding super cheap commercial quality equipment for cheap through doing my homework, but I never expected the flooring especially and the dumbbells to set me back so much....

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

Yeah, I am just looking for maybe the right "words" to search for or the right places to look, b/c it seems that anyplace with "gym flooring" or "fitness flooring" charges an arm and a leg for either blocks (4x6) or for rolls (4X25+)

As for dumbbells, I think I will just collect them slowly but surely.
I have some adjustables that will be fine for lighter needs, then I will search out some 60 through 150's as I can find them.

Buying stuff used is the only way I am going to afford this, but so far so good on equipment.....probably going to pick some f it up tomorrow actually.

Not sure if you are around a horse or farm store but they sell "Horse stall mats" that are usually 3'x4' and are 3/4" thick. If you find the right ones they have puzzle ends to them that enable them to be locked together. They are not cheap, i bought 12 of them to make a 12x12 floor and it cost me about $350 to $400, but well worth it. They are really really tough.

Type "fitness flooring" into the search bar on eBay. See if that stuff will at least get you by until you can afford the real thing.

Thanks guys, but when you add it up, it all comes out to be about $400 give or take, which I can get fairly good rubber flooring for.

I have about 320sq. ft to cover, and the cheapest I found so far was rolls for $1.09 per sq. ft......but then the shipping would kill me from that place.

I am going to try one farm supply place around this area and see what they carry but unless someone comes through with a place that has the deal of the century, it looks like I am spending about $400 on flooring....dammit. :(

Also looked into doing plywood, covered in a cheap berber type carpeting, but it still ends up being the same price or even more, so I may as well just searcho ut the cheapest rubber flooring I can find.

Hey bro, also check restaurant supply places.... they have the rubber mats for kitchens to keep ppl from slipping. There thick and high quality. Just an idea... You'd need several of them, and you could cut them to fit edges and so forth, but probably spend less than a hundred.

Absolutely, I went to tractor supply and they sell thickass rubber mats far cheaper than you would ever imagine. They are for horse stalls I think. I even bought two for friends they were so cheap. I think the store is called tractor and farm supply.

I stopped by an Agway today and they quoted me $45 each for the 4x6's, but they are going to call me with a better price tomorrow since I need @ 15 of them....

I also called Tractor Supply but the manager was a dick, so I will be going with Agway.
TS had them for $42 each but when I asked about a discount the phone was handed to a manager who just said flat out and rudely "no way", then when I asked about a supposed 10% discount that was ending that day (in 15 minutes actually when they closed) I got shut down as well.
I figured I wouldn't rush them or myself to get there, get them loaded, and get out so I would pay for them on the phone tonight and go pick them up in the morning tomorrow. Guess that manager at Tractor Supply, won't get to ring up a $500 sale from me this week.
Dumbass. lol

37.99 at tractor supply. I am sure someone there would appreciate your business. More than likely that guy would be a dick no matter where he works. Could have caught him on a bad day.

**broken link removed**

Yeah, I will see what kind of discount I can get out of the Agway, and then if need be I will just go to a different TS.....lol

If I ever decide to do a home gym this is what I will do for the flooring.

Contact a company that repairs conveyor systems and see if they have scrap conveyor belt. It is usually goodyear 3/16" rubber belt. Should do OK for a home gym.
