Who do you guys follow for posing technique/guidance? I follow Daniel Coffeen but he’s really the only account I know of.

Sid Rai.
I don’t know one high level guy using Daniel. He just appeared. There are multiple pros and high level coaches using Sid with their clients.

Sheliahe Brown hands down

Thank you gentlemen for pointing me in the right direction!

Sid is awesome - was active here for a minute but then got into a fight with a mod and bounced lol. Alex York is also a good guy to follow for posing - he don’t post as much these days but you can browse through his older posts.

Awesome man, Thanks. I’ll check them out!

One more vote for Sid Rai. He's helped guys like Jordan Janowitz who have been at this for over a decade make noticeable improvements just by adjusting posing.

Get a big mirror at home, watch videos of guys who pose great, find pictures of the best physiques of all time in each pose, print them out and tape them around the edge of the mirror, and stand in front of it once a day for at least 5-10 minutes flexing and comparing yourself to the pictures.

Don't fall into the trap of trying to look artistic, doing "smooth transitions", making ballerina spinning movements, trying to do too much as if you can change what your body looks like. The biggest mistakes guys make posing is overthinking it, overdoing it - especially when they can't just stand there and flex for 30 seconds without shaking, losing balance, etc.

Your presenting your strength. Your not a dancer, your not a stripper, your not a goof ball, or a rapper, or a ballerina. Your a mountain of ripped granite that can press a car off his chest, jump to the top of a building with a tank strapped to your waist, curl a stallion with one arm. Your a middle linebacker that just knocked somebody's head off, a gladiator and a king, taking your place on the throne.

I’m gonna check him out, thanks for the reply my man!

I appreciate the advice brother, I’ll do just that. I also never really considered the significance of endurance in posing - having the stamina to hold strong stable poses. Posing was a huge weak point in my last show, and with roughly 9 months before my next show I have time to focus on serious improvements.

Your perspective definitely aligns with what I would like to convey through my poses - strong, stoic, enduring and masculine.

For someone looking for a DIY course on posing I will throw out that John Jewett actually has a very good posing course that he offers on his site.

I worked with a classic pro thats local to me, he helped a ton with getting some of the smaller details ironed out when I was first learning.

Since then I just spend a little time once a week with the tripod and mirrors and run through my poses and just try new things and tweaks until it looks perfect.

I follow a couple guys on social media that I'll watch for flow/routine ideas, but actually ironing out the individual poses can only be done with a coach there or running through video over and over

Damn I miss him here, one of my favorite members here.
