Prolotherapy cost question

I have a calcium deposit in my shoulder that's causing tendonitis of the bicep tendon, it is realy depressing me, not being able to train much, going on 5 months now. I don't want to push though the pain too much because I did that 5 years ago with my other shoulder and ended up having surgery that took a year to recover from. I've tried everything: A.R.T., adequan, GH, diclofenac sodium(voltaren) which has helped the most. Now I'm going to an acupuncturest only a few sessions in, I've got a little relief. He has told he also does prolotherapy and only charges only $60 an injection. The reason for my concern is that every other Dr. I've heard of charges around $250. He is a Dr. but I don't know if I want him sticking a giant needle into my shoulder at rock bottom prices. I think that Xcelbeyond and Ivan have had this treatment. Has anyone hear of prolotherapy gone wrong?
