I am getting pretty sick of the protein powder I have been using. The powder I use is probably the cheapest whey I have ever seen, 6 lbs for $25 or $30. Am I correct in thinking "you get what you pay for" when it comes to protein. If so would say 40grams of isolate be as good as or effecting as the 66 grams i get from my cheap whey or should I still go with the 60ish grams regardless. reason I ask is becuase isolate cost a bit more then the stuff i use now.

Big, HUGE difference in quality and absorption (and how the body handles it). On top of the pile is Synthetek protein. There also several other good isolates out there.

I use Respect Protein by Pride Nutrition. It's a blend of CFM Whey Isolate, Egg Albumen, and Micellar Casein. Has 5 grams of fiber per serving, no sugar, tastes great, flax powder added, digestive enzymes, and over 10 grams glutamine a serving. All I know is it's the only product that doesn't turn me into the ass of death.

...

Two things - at the high end of the range, massive difference in quality - like xcel said, Synthetek is the best WPI out there. I'll honestly say this - I'm not sponsored and only use it rarely, but it is without a doubt the best WPI I've had.

For value, I can't go past bulk WPC and if you are just bulking, intermediate or whatever, get your Synthetek WPI for post-workout and your WPC in bulk if you can for meal replacement/protein top ups etc. Good value, medium digestion, good spectrum of aminos. 80%. I pay $11kg for mine ($11 per 2.2lb).

I love Optiumn Nutrition. Cheap, tastes good, dissolves, and loaded with protein.

Uhuh. Just one thing - if it contains what it says on the label, how can it retail for less than what it would cost to manufacture??

optimum label claims have been tested to be accurate.

they tested at 75.7% protein per 100g and claimed 74.

(this test was done before they changed their formula to 80% protein per 100g)

I'm talking about their isolate.

The Optimum Isolate claim is such BS. Just a technicality about how you don't have to list ingredients in order of amounts when they are in a blend.

so if the ingredients were: Whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate they would have to list it as such

but because they use the blend they can list it like this : Blend (isolate, concentrate) even though it's mostly concentrate.
