In the U.S. you have to go through NPC. As for your second question, I am not sure. Some years back there was this guy who competed here (in california), and then a few years later he was competing at a pro show. He earned his pro card in some other country, it was his home country i asume.

As far as I know if you can compete in the IFBB World championships and win your class you get the pro card.

In the U.S., as far as I know, you have to go through the NPC and win either the Nationals or USA Championships to earn your pro card.

I have a little knowledge of how it works outside the U.S., in Brazil as I lived there for 2009, and my traning partner is a top level Brazilian amateur. He is a member of the IFBB amateur division. He competes there in IFBB amateur shows and won his class in the Brazilian Championships last year. He will have to compete and win the World Championships in order to earn his pro card. Not sure if he has to take overall or just his class is ok. Last year he was invitied to compete in the Arnold Classic Amateur, which he did and took 5th in the Superheavies. I think if you win the Arnold Amateur you win your pro card as well?

USA Championships - NPC, HeavyWeight, 14th
World Amateur Championships - IFBB, HeavyWeight, 1st <---- Got his pro card here then in 1992

Night of Champions - IFBB, 14th
Olympia - IFBB, Did not place

isn't it more simple than winning the World championships

Let's say you do an NPC show in Colorado, Michigan, NY, or any other NPC how that offers a Pro Card, if you win your class and overall you get the card don't you??

If your going through the NPC, the only way you get your pro card is doing a pro qualifier, which include USA's, North American, or Nationals. As far as i know 4 pro cards were given at this year's USA, every weight class winner at Nationals, and only 1 at North American
