Questions about HMG and pregnancy...

Hoping to find some first hand experience/advice on using HMG to conceive. At this point I am still in the early stages of trying to get my wife pregnant for the first time, and am just using my trt dose of test and some HCG. My doctor encouraged me to start this way, and then we can eliminate the test and add some clomid down the road if this doesn't work for a while. (Also, my wife is going off BC for the first time in like 10 years.)

However, I seem to be reading a bunch about HMG being the "Big Gun" so to speak when it comes to renewing sperm production following years of steroid use. I mentioned this to my doc, and she said she didn't know much about it and didn't think it was an option.

So, I'd like to hear from some of you... Have you tried it? Did it work? How long/dose? Did you get it from a doc, or go black market?, Ect...

If I could avoid months and months of frustration and having to go completely off test for any longer than necessary, that would be great.

I have used hmg successfully for two pregnancies .hmg/hcg should be used together to achieve a normal sperm count

Dose? Did a doc prescribe this, or did you just figure out a protocol yourself?

I was prescribed by a fertility doc.10,000ius/week of hcg split m-w-f and 75ius hmg mom and fri for the first four weeks and then just continue with the hcg

The first time it took about 8 months and the second about 2 months .it takes about 3 months for the body to produce healthy sperm .

HMG is not commonly prescribed to men for fertility purposes, even though its been approved for the use since the early 80s i believe. I contacted at least 10 fertility treatment centers in Texas, 50% said no, they just prescibe hcg, the other 50% had never even heard of it for use in men, then said no. From my research and contact with mike036, this is the best/fastest way to get "going" after long term use. I had a hell of a time trying to find it, a long time sponsor here now carries it. I just used what I was prescribed ,so only hcg and hmg .i know I have seen others post on this board that stayed on trt and had success but I didn't want to take any chances and I listened to my fertility specialist

I came off all steroids .just hcg and hmg .I was was using gh when I conceived my son.

The ONLY downside to HMG is the price..

the only problem is finding a doctor who actually knows about it... i had to school my doc on it, and after months of mentioning it, he finally gave it to me..

ive been taking HCG and clomid for over a year with no increase in sperm count.. now i've been on HMG for about two months. getting sperm checked in a few days. i'm hoping it does the trick.
