REASON FOR GAS PRICES

This is what I've been trying to tell people who love to blame our fuel dilemma on something else, like politicians.

MOST people HAVE NO IDEA how much the US economy depends on oil. It's not just gas and diesel, which not only fuels nearly ALL vehicles, it's a staple in many part of this country for electricity. Then there's ALL THAT OTHER STUFF that's made from petroleum products. How much of that computer you're sitting in front of is from it?!?! Do you realize HOW MUCH PETROEUM is in fertilizers?!?!

Like I said - I give us 2 years for economic collapse. That is unless we get off the dime and figure out the "alternatives."

What to believe???

Read what this guy has to say......A more appropriate title for this piece would have been "Orchestrating Financial Collapse".

Admittedly the hardest part of observing the unfolding of a prearranged history is connecting the dots. More to the point, to be able to see how all things are connected and work in concert to achieve a desired goal.

So I'd like to throw some things out that the public at large doesn't know and never would. What I am about to tell is common knowledge in oil circles but the worker ants at the bottom of the pyramid never question what they see. I was an eye witness to what I am going to relate and there are a good many others who could come forward if only they will.

In 2000, I worked in the Gulf of Mexico for two different OSV companies that provided support services to the "oil patch". The two companies did very different work for the oil companies so I got to get an eye full.

The first thing that I'd like to expose is the fact that nearly all of the new wells in the gulf are immediately capped off and forgotten about. I saw well after well brought in only to see them capped off and left. Oil or natural gas it didn't matter. I asked a couple of petroleum engineers what exactly was going on and I was told by both (they worked for different companies) that there was no intention of bringing that oil to market until the "price was right".

That wasn't the only bogus thing that was happening. Seismic technology had developed to the point that they could not only tell the companies where the oil was but how much oil was there. All they had to do was go out and stick a straw in and suck it out. They didn't. Once again, the oil prices weren't right. When they are ready and want it they know right where to go get it.

I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action
Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp (sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all.
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

A few flaws here bro:

I can't remember the last time I puchased gas at either Exxon or Mobile, which means it's been YEARS. They've been doing just fine without my business.

Where I live, there's not much profit at the retail end (gas pump). They pay XXX amount then need to make a living. Sure prices have been going up faster than deliveries - meaning it's not just going up when a station gets a new delivery. Gas is going up because the price of "new" gas to the station is going up - that's their "replacement" cost. Any station that just bought a new delivery HAS TO CHARGE the new rate, or go broke.

In our state, we're very cognisant of price gouching and anyone that suspects a station of gouching is to call our office and report it. Our office just put out a report stating that they've investigated recent price increases and have found no gouching. We even went out and investigated why a gas station ran out of gas! BELIEVE ME - I work for a bunch of THUMB-SUCKING LIBERALS that are drooling at the chance to jump on the petroleum industrie's back!

hell, gas is already up to 3.20 a gallon for regular here in phoenix

$4.00 damn dollars in Chicago!! Up to 3.41 in the burbs. We're lucky to find a station at 2.99

quit traveling so damn much. everyone wants to style and profile in there big fine suv's and super 4 wheel drives yet complain about the pump prices. get a moped. and i surely don't want to hear about i need a big vehicle like that because of my kids and all of their after school activities. carpool.

bottom line...
you pay to play

I dont believe that crap

I totally do not believe there is a "shortage" of oil. If there is a "shortage" or we are about to run out.... then why is gas not high everywhere in the world?

Sure- its high SOME places but... in China its only $1.48 and in Russia its $1.45 per gallon.
In VENEZUELA its only .12 fucking cent a gallon.
If there was a big shortage or... we are running out then it would be ridiculous everywhere in the world.

Funny thing how, oil cost the US and UK (war allies in the illegal war) more then most of the rest of the world hu? Coincidence .... yeah... right.

Think about it ... what other REASONABLE excuse could the government give us to make us accept the fact that they can raise gas prices whenever they want just to fill there greedy pockets?

You boys don't know how lucky you are, over here (UK) we're currently paying the equivalent $8/gallon

Would you not agree that oil does have a finite quantity though?
When you start adding the growth of the US (5% population that uses 25% of the energy) with the massive growth of China, etc. the energy requirements of the world will dramatically increase.

a bit alarmist, but....

lots of colorful graphs ;)

I think that you need to look at each economy of the places that have cheap gas to get a true picture. You can't only compare gas prices without comparing the entire cost of living in the respective countries.

For example, the average income for a person living in Moscow is $300 dollars per month. Here is a list of common items and costs:http://www.bkc.ru/eng/moscow/

1 loaf of bread - $0.35
10 eggs - $0.65
1 pack of 25 tea bags - $1
1 kilo of meat - $4
1 kilo of potatoes - $0.5
1 chicken - $2,5
1 litre of fruit juice - $1.1
1 litre of milk - $0.8
1 can of Coke - $0.35
1 bottle of vodka - $2.8
1 pack of Marlboro - $1
1 Big Mac - $1.3
1 meal at Pizza Hut - $10-20
1 Metro pass - $0.35

As you can see, in Moscow $1.45 per gallon of gas is much greater relative price than $3 per gallon in the US.

The price of gas could be lowered right now by 35c a gallon if they wanted to by cutting the tax off it. But the oil industry is determined to get 5.00 bucks a gallon I am sure it will reach that level withing a 1yr. Even though we have enough oil in mexico, canada, texas alone for who knows how long. Scum suckers.MM

That's just what I was thinking. Thanks for doing the research on that.

Even the website that JJ posted the link said that the Venzuelan government subsidizes gas prices. Hell - they probably tax the oil companies 80% down there!

Hey MM: Texas actually hit their "peak" in the 80's - they're now on the downhill side!!! We don't get much oil (compared to other sources) outta Alaska.
