Responsible Usage: Not another BS low dosage vs high dosage thread

such low total cholesterol is absolutely not good, quite the opposite - it is a sign that our liver cannot cope with metabolizing lipids

I have exactly the same and recently my total cholesterol was only at the level of 48 (HDL 24 and LDL 24) and triglycerides at 40 in 3 months I managed to raise it to 64 and triglycerides to 66 I hope that I will still be able to improve these values

APOE2 variant carriers tend to clear remnant cholesterol at a higher rate. Liver, yeah. Peripheral tissue expression of endoplasmic reticulum derived synthesis of APOE2 is a key culprit, too.

My aforementioned purposed suggestions of pulling back the reins aligns with your notion of not such a good idea to have a very low LDL.

"In humans, the APOE gene is polymorphic, resulting in production of 3 common isoforms, apoE2, E3, and E4. They differ in primary structure at 2 positions, E2 having Cys at both positions 112 and 158, E3 having a Cys at 112 and an Arg at 158, and E4 having Arg at both positions. They also differ in their LDLR binding affinity; apoE4 binds LDLR with a slightly higher affinity than apoE3, whereas apoE2 has much reduced binding compared to the other 2 isoforms.5–9 Despite the low receptor binding of apoE2, the majority of individuals carrying apoE2 have lower plasma LDL cholesterol and reduced atherosclerosis risk, although 5% to 10% of apoE2 homozygotes develop type III hyperlipoproteinemia characterized by markedly elevated plasma lipid levels.2,10 Equally paradoxical is the association of the apoE4 isoform with high LDL-cholesterol, low plasma triglycerides (TG), and an increased risk of atherosclerosis."

Thanks as always gentlemen. My ALT, AST and GGT are in range. I am going to work on some adjustments to try and get it up.

What specifically do you do to increase it? I also always have very low total cholesterol including LDL. On the other hand, HDL is not completely out of whack... Thanks

Nothing special just give time to liver improves and start metabolising better - my liver values now are in range but they need more time to homeostasis everything

I guess I'll have to start eating pizza and garbage 🤷😁

In all seriousness, the things I removed from my diet would be ones I would add back in within moderation- eggs, lean beef etc.

I knew I was going into prep so was trying to proactively get ahead with lipids and I can be too extreme at times. Lol

Personally I am also low fat. My daily fat intake is only from two eggs and 20g almond butter. Protein only chicken breast and egg whites and low fat Skyr.. Maybe it's time to add some fats to my diet.

Did AJ see your lipids as any issue?

He didn’t say anything to me about them. His stay pretty low as well as he post them on his social media.

It’s easy for us to get caught up into thinking lower is better and healthier. That’s what I did. I like to keep my LDL between 40-70 so was a bit thrown when they came back this low. But it’s from all I’m doing. It’s also why I run bloodwork every 6 weeks while on cycle.

Typically, forcing LDL down to very low levels via pharmacology is safe long term according to the data we have available. It’s the already low LDL that I would investigate, but I’m not familiar enough with that literature to have any advice. I know LDL can drop after some sort of cardiovascular event but that’s not what this is, so I have nothing of substance to really offer.

My cardiologist has no issue with it and he see’s it as a good thing. I sent it to him and he said “whatever you’re doing keep it up.”

While he is one of the best sports cardiologist in the country I do still have similar feelings as @Stewie and @luki7788 as cholesterol is still important for health. But I really do think it’s as simple as easing up a bit on how rigid I have been with my diet.

My LDL is always in the 70's. Since as long as I can remember and long before I used any anabolics.

Hopefully he’s right! I don’t think you’re doing any harm by having too good of a diet.

Out of curiosity, was there ever a point in your life when you had a much higher LDL?

Bumping my own thread. There is a lot of good stuff in this thread that every member should read. Attaching my current lipids. No statins. Just living the lifestyle day to day.

Woah, this is the other end of Mendelian Randomization

It's incorrect to make absolute statements, but I would wager that you might never get atherosclerosis

179 was the highest and 139 the second highest. Being totally transparent those were the two points where I was tuning the most gear I had ever used. That was in 2022. Since those two readings it has never been over 90 and most months stays 40-60.

My cardiologist told me the same thing.

Aren't certain hormones in the body made from cholesterol?
