YES!! THATS STRAW VOTE!!!
YES!! THATS STRAW VOTE!!!
Street,
The Republican Party is the conservative party in American politics, and it is worth remembering that Bush and John Howard have had a good working relationship over the last 7 years.
Also, to be honest, I cannot but take some small measure of offense at your suggestion that the American political system is corrupt. I find it difficult to believe that the United States is unique in that the psyches of its politicians include motives of self-aggrandizement. We should always keep in mind that it is a rare man who does not seek to do good, a politician who does believe he is working towards the common good. We can disagree over what IS the common good, but it is a mistake and a common one to reduce our opponents to pure evil , to base all your motives in greed, nepotism and whatever pejorative term you can conjure. It is a great deal more respectful as well as realistic to assume that they are in essence men like ourselves: striving towards the good perhaps succeeding, perhaps failing.
I second that!bush, cheney, rice and a whole lot of others should be tried and executed as war criminals.
This country is a Republic, not a Democracy. We should elect people that we feel will represent what the majority of the (legal) citizens want. It doesn't always turn out like everyone hoped for, but you will never find an issue that everyone agrees on. Sometimes you agree, sometimes you don't. That's what elections are for. A changing of the guard. For now, it's still the best counrty in this world.
I think (hope) Ron Paul's limited success will open the eyes of many politicians and government officials, that a great many people, at least those who do not feed at the government trough, are sick and tired of government intrusion into their everyday life. I may not agree with him on all issues, but he is dead on with many.
That so many people are still drinking the "Cool Aid". Got news for ya, this country has/is turning fascist, I think Ron put it as "Soft fascism". And as far as being the "Best country", yeah I'll give you best at domination of recourses, and bending of peoples will through military power, but as far as best to live in? I'd recommend some travel plans and expand your knowledge of the world. There are many countries that enjoy universal gun ownership, no income or property tax, and wow health care for their population (Because they don't have to fund a huge war machine and the "Group" that owns them). I am sorry, I love this country, but it has become so "In your face" with corruption, and perverted from the founders principles that this country was built on. And unfortunately people (For survival) are living this rat race giving half they own and make to a government that only cares about their cronies that have pushed this society of "consumption without thinking". Hopefully in the years ahead people will wake up (It has to happen soon), because really if we stay on this track this dynasties days are numbered.
And as far as how "Limited" Ron Paul’s support is, we won’t know the true extent of his support because what you’re getting is government / Zio controlled media. I mean Ron said just the other day, if he got elected he'd disband the Fed Bank and stop aid to Israel. After making statements like that, do you really think you're going to get any news about Ron with any merit from "Mainstream media? I hope that cool aid aint that strong.
I am far from a "cool aid" drinker. I too feel that the road we are traveling will soon lead, sadly, to our downfall. I feel the bending of peoples will is a result of all the government "give away" programs. Afterall, who is going to vote against someone that suggests an end to any government program. EG. free health care. These things come at a price. More taxes.
Let me buy my healthcare, stop killing me with so many taxes, let me fund my retirement, let me care for my elderly parents, leave me alone.
Well that would work if you had the CASH to pay every time you had a medical concern. But I'm sure you are talking about buying medical coverage, but unfortunately that comes down to a big corporation (The Insurance Co.) deciding if you 'Need" that life saving surgery. And you know what happens there if there is ANY way they can wriggle out of paying, right? DENIED
I hate big government also, but I'd really feel better with some sort of Govt. oversight in this matter.
I think if you pull back the BILLIONS propping up this massively bloated military complex we have, giving over a trillion since the 60's to a mid east state that draws us into all kinds of trouble (But things like that keep the bloated program above going), and start a dialogue of friendship and trade instead of domination and forced ideology, I think taxes would come down, and the Govt. programs that work can stay. I mean really, all the taxes collected can't keep our entire population minimally covered, come on.
If you actually work and draw a paycheck, have you looked at the taxes that are withheld. Your employer also pays the additional 7.65% in SS and MC. That would free up a lot of funds for you to shop around for a healthcare provider. When some fanaic asshole finally desides to set one off in this counry, and it will happen, I hope none of those you care about are in the area.
For now, it's still the best counrty in this world.
