Thatis acctualy very common alot of big mamals will mourn themselves to death after loosing a mate or in this case seroget mate , whales , elephants and many others mate for life.

I had a huning dog once that mouned itself down for weeks after loosing a sibling that had lived and hunted together for years.

Thats amazing to think an animal morns the death of someone close, never thought it happens.

LOVE........that is pure 100% love and devotion. It is sad to read these stories but it is what makes us human if not humane. Some people go through the same thing when a lifelong pertner dies, they greive themselves to death. I can't think of a worse way to die, with a broken heart and spirit. I hope they can get the dolphin to eat soon!!

Not to be a party pooper but the weight loss could be totally unrelated. Someone else at the facility even said it, to "not give the animal human qualities" automatically. It's a story the media and we love (and cry about) though.

Once my neighbour an old lady died, she didnt have nobody, family, close friends. She only had her dog, a yorkshire terrier. When she died the dog died a few days later on her lap. And other neighbours found them dead together. It was on the local paper and they said the dog died from a broken heart.

Ive heard of cats eat their owners because they are selfish anyway but never a dog, the chances are even if you gave the dog food he woudnt eat it because he would be too depressed. But I suppose animals are indivdials as well, there are some humans that would eat their own mother.
