Any of you guys ever eat alot of pickles? I've been craving the hell out of them the past week of so , checked out the back of the jar and their basicaly nothing in them but sodium , so other than getting some water retention for the salt is their any negitives?

I would think that they would make a good snack having only 8 cals and those are from just 2g carbs. I think that sodium would be easly washed out?

Fuck ya bro..... pickles, hot cherry peppers all day long.....

mmmm pickles. pickles make my mouth feel clean after eating out!

i don't think the salt can be washed out, after all they are 'pickled' for a long time, sucking in all that salt and vinegar. maybe if you soaked them in water long enough it might leech some back out - i dont know. do they make low salt pickles?

did you know pickles are cucumbers? lol

I'm gonna go grab a jar today wehn I said "washed out" I was refering to washed out of the body after eating them.
I may pickle a bunch of eggs when the jar is empty , I'm getting about 10-12 a day now from my parents chickens ,I'm thinking that eggs may soon become a new source of protine for me.
Nothing bettter than fresh yard eggs.

Nice, wish I had fresh eggs. The only farm close to me has them but they are organic(which is good of course) but they are 4.50/dozen. Now I know org eggs are great but when you go through a dozen a day.......well I am not made of $$$ and that damn money tree I planted in early spring refuses to bear fruit. What I have done is only use org for the whole eggs that I use and just use cheap ones when it comes to the whites.

Back on topic though, pickels are great! Only caution I would warn is that some of the bread and butter varieties can have a sugar level that would make eating with reckless abandone something to avoid for certain individual(endomorphs raise your hands). Also eat too many and certain "things" will take on a green hue. I know gross but it is what it is :).

oh i feel ya on the pickles bro..they never lasted long in my house haha

do they taste different than eggs at the store, i have never had fresh eggs like that.

by the way did you know roosters do not have a dominant foot, and they dont always crow at dawn. yes i am going to continue to post useless facts like this forever!

I just ate about 15 baby dills... and a couple drinks of the juice

Mine a little differant than the store bought ones , I put a couple cups of diced Jalapeños and juice in mine.
The home grown yard eggs are a bit bigger (due to the chicken breed) and the yokes are a little bigger , the taste is alot better in my oppinion.

The best egs are fresh duck eggs though , simply awsome. if you use them when baking cakes and such one eg will make a major differance in the taste of the cake , they are much more "rich" I assume that the fat in them is alot higher than the chicken eggs though

Theirs realy nothing like fresh home grown food from strawberries to beef , it all taste differant the mass produced chemicaly enhanced stuff from the store.

ya know i gotta agree on that weird taste. i recall in my the late 90's, i used to love beef. omg i never stopped eating it. at cookouts my friends would make bets on how much i could at at one sitting! now it really tastes funny to me. many times i buy some ;ean steak or ground beef, cook it and it tastes awful. sometimes i just throw it away. WTF is going on in agriculture? i have tried every local supermarket in the area.

Alot of people in this area will still raise a steer for slaughter , the only down side is that in the all truethfullness its cost more , by the time its processed and they realy need to be grain fed the last few weeks depending on what they graze on.

Some of the local high schools still have an agricultural science center and most of these will process your meat for little to no cost. I butcher all our meat myself , the only down side is not having a big walk in cooler to "age" the meat so we break the animal down in quarters and usspend in big chest freezer turned up to let it drain and age a little before the final cutting and wrapping.
After hurricane Katrina their was a short time when people were very low on food so we made a deal with the neighbor of our friend and butcherd two of his cows. Pretty good times , I butcherd both cows completely and had it ready to be cooked or wrapped in less than 8 hrs , all with a 6" skinning knife , 10" butcher knife , a Black&Decker Sawzall the 10,000lb wich on my truck and two rounds from a 45 ACP. We ended up feeding about a dozen Marines and a dozen or so Law officers from out of town that were here to help.

Anyway , I'm liking me some pickels so far , I feel like I've gained a few lbes already from water but I haven't drank but about half what I normaly do. I'm sure tomorrow it'll work its way off.
