About recovery.

If I train chest on monday, it will not get sore until wednesday. I always just thought that is how my body worked. It took 24 hours for the break down to accure. WRONG. I did some messing around. I found that the only reason I do not get sore until the next day is because at night I do not eat and that is where my muscle starts to break down without out any food to help it recover. I tried waking in the night and eating and it worked, I did not get sore. Just some food for thought.

i've been waking up at like 4 or 5 in the morning because i'm so hungry(not on purpose). every night before bed i drink a shake and eat a peanut butter sandwich. i've noticed the same thing about my chest getting sore wed. when i trained on mon.
 
i recover noticeable faster when i wake up and have my shake...

no matter what though, i always get sore....

even when using super supps... still get sore but not as sharp of a pain

midnight meals rule (well, 4am for me but i work 2nd shift)
 
It always seems in the morning I am sore until I eat then I am not nearly as bad! So yes I always try to stay on top of my diet!!
 
maybe try this...

Hmmmm...ok well take the extra calories that you consume at when you wake up and have them just before you go to bed and see if that helps. The way you have designed your experiement at the moment does not tell you if it is the time that you ate the meal or if it is the additional nutrients that are causing you to recover more quickly.:)
 
It is not the extra calories. That is common sense. When you tear down your muscle they try to repair in the first 48 hours. If there are long stretches during that recovery period it will keep your muscle from building back up. It will just be torn down.
 
Why not just try it?

Ok. Well regardless of how 'common the sense is'....you do not know if it is the additional nutrients that you have consumed or if it was the 'getting up at 4am and eating' that is making the difference to your recovery.

At a certain stage of sleep, your body becomes extremely efficient at tissue repair and growth. That stage of sleep occurs in the early morning hours ie...3-5am. Some people sleep but never spend much time in the 'repair' stages of sleep and therefore dont recover as well (even though they slept 8 or 9 hours)

So is it that you ate something before that period? or is it that you increased your nutrients stored for use at that period?

At the moment, you dont know because your experiment is confounded

Why not just try the suggestion and keep us informed? It is very interesting.
 
Ok. On Monday when I train legs I will try taking the shake (that I would normally drink in the middle of the nigh) and just drink it before bed with my normal before bed meal. I usually eat 1 chicken breast and some carbs before bed.
 
This has not been from what we are doing. I used to get sore as hell but have not been sore in about 6 months. I just started messing with my upper body and that is what I am playing off of. Ok. My triceps are SORE AS HELL.

Remember the only thing we have worked on our legs. And like I told you they have yet to be sore just full as hell.

That may seem like a joke to a lot of people, but that will probably be the reality of it with my genetics and a lot of your advice. . :D
