SNORING - Is it apnea or something else?

I sleep mouth taped, my o2 levels seem good from my oura ring but I'm snoring quite loud according to the annoyed mrs, I've noticed every 10-14 days I do wake up gasping for air.

I'm going to get a sleep apnea test done, but I've never really snored and I've seen a few things before talk about it could be a restriction in the neck or posture that's causing it rather than sleep apnea, maybe like my jaw needs to be more forward...

How do you decide which it is? I saw a functional activator mouth piece from posture pro which is meant to help, but realised it's something I need to get sorted. My only concern is if it's a restriction to do with the jaw, then it's not sleep apnea but the sleep apnea test would probably say it is?

I'd probably wake up gasping for air too if I taped my mouth shut. The f?
 
Add a pillow under your shoulders so that you're not just laying on a pillow tilting your head forward, helps keep a more neutral spine posture and keep airways open, especially if you have a thicker neck.

Doing that saved me from needing to get a CPAP just yet and kept me from being stabbed in my sleep by my wife.
 
My wife used to wear earplugs to stay sleeping next to me. She’d complain, but what can ya do right. Ended up getting a surgical procedure done and when they flipped me on my back I woke up the entire operating units. Apparently, EVERYONE came to see where this loud ass noise was emanating from.

Needless to say they told me I need to get a sleep study done. Got my GP to schedule it. Been on a APAP ever since. I feel great now during the day. All that time I just figured this is what it feels like when your getting older.

Also, bloodwork will show raised RBC and hemoglobin. If those are trending upwards then you’ll likely need a CPAP.

Snoring is a symptom of sleep apnea but doesn't necessarily mean that you have sleep apnea. Go get a sleep study.
 
i was snooring like an absolute monster, at times i would wake myself up snoring, my bloodpressure was high, hematocrit etc got myself a cpap, snoring was reduced insanely, bloodpressure went down, hematocrit went down.. but i would deff recommend getting a sleep study.
 
Another vote for the sleep study. Apnea is a bad, bad, thing. The study will show for sure rather than just a guessing game.
My CPAP was life changing. I didn't realize how bad the apnea was affecting my life until it didn't.
 
It's curious how those women hear us snoring.... but when they snore, we don't even care..... bah... women.

I experience the same thing and mainly when i am more tired, i think that i solved my snoring by adding another pillow, so i sleep on 2 big pillows, this way shoulders and face stay in a better place.

In any case, atm my cat doesn't annoy me because i snore :p

But I was only 27 at the time I got diagnosed

I was like… getting older can’t be THIS bad
 
Yeah, ive ordered a test. Was just trying to recall what it was about it could be my neck or something pinching a nerve causing it to happen to
