Stiff leg deadlifts: How to get flexible??

So I started doing these for the first time last week, and I've been having lots of soreness behind my knees. Until now, I had been doing leg curls, hyperextensions, and things like that for hamstrings. I was always told to avoid stiff leg deadlifts because they're dangerous. But now, after practicing my form, watching countless hours of youtube instructional videos and whatnot, I started doing them but now I'm really sore right behind my knees. Not muscle soreness, but inflexibility soreness, if that makes any sense. Do any of you do any stretching or anything that loosens up that area? Thanks

icey hot or some other type of linament prior to training should help. it show you that you need to increase flexibility in that area. stiff leg dl's are a great exercise. people who say they are dangerous are usually weak :)

lay on ur back and bring your knee to your chest.. it will stretch your hams out.. also you can sit on the ground with your legs in a V shape and stretch down to each ankle then the center.

stretching helps me. bend down touch ur toes, full splints seem to work best for me. really loosens up the hamstrings.
