So I have lost quite a bit of weight in the past few months but my stomach is still distended. I dont think its bacterial related as ran a course of antiboitics and some supplements a couple months ago and really am just blaming it on my stomach muscles being too stretched out from having a gut the past year or so.

SO my question is to those people that have had the same issue and have had success bringing it back in, how did you do it? The past couple of days i have bee really squeezing my ab muscles and sucking in my stomach at the same time and i think that might be one thing that helps but not sure as i havent done it long enough to tell.

So how did you have success bringing your stomach back in?

Thanks for any help

Maybe you are still fat? Until you are 10% bf are less talking about why your stomach is "distended" is silly. Do you have full separation between abs? Skin can get stretched out but not muscles.

I definitely still have some fat to loose but I have abs when I flex them. But when I release, my stomach goes back out. Yes I have some fat but there is still a distention issue.

KEEP LOSING WEIGHT!

Until you actually areee lean lean, you also should be training your abs and trying to regain control of your transverse abdominals.

There will be less distention when you can see veins in your abdomen.

The distention is permanent from being overweight and stretching out the abdominals and skin. The only way you won't have it is by consciously holding your abs in. You'll never be able to stand there relaxed with them in. It's not a visceral fat thing either - on my first Dexa scan I had literally 0.0lbs. visceral fat but my abs were still distended if I let them go from years of being overweight.

This is way more common than guys realize. Tons of professional bodybuilders have this issue - they're just really good at never letting their abs relax when being seen. I was trying to find a screenshot I posted here years ago of Hunter Labrada with his gut blown out but it looks like Google's deindexed it.

You can try wearing a weight belt pretty tight when you workout, do cardio or really anytime to get used to pulling in your abs and keeping as tight midsection as you can at your current body composition

How lean are you really? Is a skinfold on your abs more than 5mm? Do you have abdominal and oblique vascularity?

If the those two are negative try losing more weight.

Is your abdomen distended 24/7?
Is is springy to the touch?
Do you feel full prematurely?

If the above three are negative I'd lean further in the visceral fat direction. If positive it may be bacteria or poor motility.

You could probably fix quite a bit of it through a tummy-tuck operation

What are your fav exercises to accomplish this? And do you train abs year round?

I mean I self admittingly made mistakes with my midsection. I’m boxy and wide wasted which made me THINK that I should nottt train my waist. I didn’t want it to grow. But actually the opposite happened where I continued to grow and get strong everywhere else and my core got weak and therefore I couldn’t control it. It’s kind of a backwards weird situation. Basically, my weak core was becoming a problem and I made no effort to “hold” it in.

My main push now, and it hasss been working, is core training multiple times a week (actual abdominal training) plus vacuums (transverse training). Just in the past month I’ve noticed a change in my ability to stay tight and control my breathing. We’ll see how this moves forward as I continue with my prep but it’s something I’ve kept my eye on. John Jewett has talked about this stuff at length and really changed his core with more frequent training that included vacuums. He had mentioned, and I’m in that same boat, that when he was on stage 4 years ago he had to pull a vacuum juuust to have a normal flat stomach.
