Forget the supps is what I say. They have yet to make a "magic pill" that prevents heart disease, cancer, bird flu, or anything else. How is their activity level? I'd like to see 30 min of cardio @ 65% of their max heart rate 3-4 days a week, if they're able to do that. Have they had physicals, recently? Cooking right is key. Fish oil sure. I've worked with the elderly for a long time and the biggest problems they face are the adverse effects of inactivity, atrophy, and poor diet (eg broken hips, heart attack, debilitating arthritis, etc). Homeopathics are voodoo shamanism. A whole lotta booohlshit. I hope you don't think I'm being rude, here. I just have a hard time recommending a supplement when the answer is something else. Do you know how many seniors are in nursing homes because they didn't exercise or eat right? Lots. Health care, too, is plagued by seniors with these types of problems. It's a growing epidemic. Just like the obesity problem in America, seniors are neglecting certain crucial components of their health. I don't know how old your parents are, either. Case in point, tv dinners and lounging around will solve nothing. I have a friend named Richard who is 73 years old, and through diet and exercise has managed to deal with his diabetes and other health issues without medication/supplements. He exercises religously and eats a simple, but complete diet. He recently went back to work for the state after retiring 10 years ago. He doesn't believe in supplements or homeopathics, either.
