My parents are older and have alot of stress with bills and things going on in general. I wanted to see what the best supps I could recommend for them would be that would promote healthy living and also serve to prevent disease, heart attack, stroke, etc.

THanks
RONJON

Co Q10, fish oil, vitamins ACE, are good staples.

I agree with the above. My only advice would be to not skimp on the Fish Oil by getting the cheapy brand. I would highly recommend the Nordic Natual brand. It the eat meet they only need Omega 3(get the Ultimate Omega if its within the budget), but if they tend to lay off meats then go with a 3-6-9.

Forget the supps is what I say. They have yet to make a "magic pill" that prevents heart disease, cancer, bird flu, or anything else. How is their activity level? I'd like to see 30 min of cardio @ 65% of their max heart rate 3-4 days a week, if they're able to do that. Have they had physicals, recently? Cooking right is key. Fish oil sure. I've worked with the elderly for a long time and the biggest problems they face are the adverse effects of inactivity, atrophy, and poor diet (eg broken hips, heart attack, debilitating arthritis, etc). Homeopathics are voodoo shamanism. A whole lotta booohlshit. I hope you don't think I'm being rude, here. I just have a hard time recommending a supplement when the answer is something else. Do you know how many seniors are in nursing homes because they didn't exercise or eat right? Lots. Health care, too, is plagued by seniors with these types of problems. It's a growing epidemic. Just like the obesity problem in America, seniors are neglecting certain crucial components of their health. I don't know how old your parents are, either. Case in point, tv dinners and lounging around will solve nothing. I have a friend named Richard who is 73 years old, and through diet and exercise has managed to deal with his diabetes and other health issues without medication/supplements. He exercises religously and eats a simple, but complete diet. He recently went back to work for the state after retiring 10 years ago. He doesn't believe in supplements or homeopathics, either.

Some background Info

...my parents are normal people..dad works and a stay at home mom. They arent fitness freaks any rarely workout. They do eat pretty healthy though which is good.

true

theres no food that will reverse health but only improve what exsists. try the things he mentioned from above and for them to have an extra lil bit of fun tell them to try the laugh therapy it increases heart health in 45 out of 50 women and men in recent studies in my sisters college courses shes got all the good tips for this kinda stuff. but laughing and good diet with a good walk and theyll definetly maintain there vitality with a bit more umph

A simple 30 minute a day walk would be first on my list.

(and its free)

My dad...........

my dad and mom both walk on their treadmill every day
mom gets in 45 min
he does hour to sometimes hour and a half.
he's 73.
Resting pulse rate of about 55.
Check yours....
I'm trying to get them both to doing some basic resistance moves
for upper body strength. pushups off the knees.
light dumbells etc.

cool i will make note of all these things! I appreciate all the advice here

All above mentioned supplements, like coQ10, fish oils a multi-v.

What about Humanoforte? I'm thinking about giving some to my mom, but I haven't read too much about it, maybe Emeric or Phil can answer that.

Not true. Just to mention an example or two...

The capsules I make for my father have reversed his enlarged prostate...shrinking it and making him more comfortable, not to mention reducing some of the visibly negative aspects of higher estrogen such as effects on mood, emotion, clarity of thought, energy level & ability to lose the visceral fat.

In addition there are fats that can be substituted in a diet that will stop adipose cellular proliferation and reverse visceral fat gain.

So I have to respectfully disagree with you.

DatBtrue....

Could you please tell me what oils/fats to reduce belly fat?

Because I am going to get me some of that:D
