Your brain is not getting lazy, missing the letters may actually be considered more efficient. It is actually fairly easy for most people to read text with most of the vowels ommitted. We don't actually read left to right, or right to left (in other countries) in a linear, serial fashion like we think. As we gain skill, insight, etc we look at text more like in a block fashion much like looking at a "graphic" of the words and our mind fills in the missing pieces.

I will submit that the peeps who did not get them all may in fact be faster readers than the others, but I will not falsely draw conclusions about the intelligence.
