Big A has given us his best honest word. Like us, the man is allowed to be wrong, but his muscles don't look too wrong, so I'm believing him, at lest approximately anyway...
In his beginners thread, Big A has advised a workout schedule of 1 hardcore workout per week with 1 week per month taken off for general recoup.
personally, I figure that when YOU FEEL that your muscles are ready for another beating, fight's on! I other words, if you are ready to go again at 3 days or 5 days after last workout, go ahead & hitter again before atropgy starts robbing gains.
As to the 1 week off every month, I remember reading the headliner for some study done back in the 80s or 90 saying that atrophy starts 24hrs after last workout. I doubt that, but I personally figure that any break extending longer than 48-72 hours after you are physically ready to workout again will likely cost some atrophy.
Put differently, I agree at least 50% with Big As' 25% time off protocol.
1-3 workouts per week with a little extra rest (48-72 hours over schedule) is good...
