can anyone discrebe how does a tear feel´s like ? and a parcial tear , muscle injury ?

Yeah I can. It feels like someone jabbed a knife in your muscle. There's also a painful burning sensation when you try to stretch it.

It depends on the muscle. When I tore my pec for instance, It was loud, as if someone tore a t-shirt. Then I didn't feel too much pain, it did spasm though, and I saw it shrink before my eyes. One hour later it hurt like a M.F!!

The next day it was purple and black all the way down to my waist.

I think that I had a partial tear in my quad, no real pain on the inside, but I felt a little bit of a pull, about two days later it was purple.

How did you get over those injuries bro? Mine isn't purple and it doesn't hurt unless I flex it really hard or overstretch it. When I strained my pec years ago, I let it rest for a couple weeks then just did light workouts for my chest and it healed up within 3 months.

The Pec, I went to the hospital, they just put me in a sleeve, and some Homopathic crap, Arnica, topical and oral. Hot and cold salt soaks. Took about a month, but I didn't start benching again until about 1 year later.

That was in 1994 and I just recently got over 315, last week I did 10 reps w/315.

On the quad, I just gave it a little rest, didn't see the doc, and that was it, nothing really major, it did happen twice though, but it was when I first started training again. (I took a 7 year layoff)

Thanks bro. I think I'll just let it heal and rest it for a few weeks and see how I feel. I don't feel as though my pec is badly torn.

I've torn my pec, left bicep, right bicep...not all at the same time. All bruised 2-5 days after. None hurt too much but I have a high tolerance to pain.

The bicep tears were muscle AND tendon. I HEARD them tear...it was nasty. It takes months for a tendon to heal because there is little blood flow in tendons. Usually, muscle tears, if not too bad take less time to heal. Something we don't like to do is rest but this is crucial if you don't want to re-injure or cause more damage. Anti-inflamitory, ice are crucial the first 48 hrs. It sucks but look long term. Take advantage of the time...ie. train laging parts....or cross train ...?

This has been my doctor's advice and I've healed well from all three. Train the muscles you can, and don't do any movements that cause any discomfort to the injured area. Good luck.

Thanks for the response bro. Did you go in for surgery when you tore your tendons?

No surgery. My Doc asked questions...checked different areas for pain, etc and determined he would just give me some pain/anti-inflamatory meds and take another look in 30 days. It was a good call.

So I guess the docs evaluate whether they need to scope the area and take a look or not based on an initial examination. My Doc told me if he suspected the tear was more than 2cm, he would scope...otherwise they heal just fine.
