The 2 kinds of guys that use gear......

there are 2 kinds of people who weight train and decide to use gear. all of u will read this and immediately recognize them and know a few of each.

TYPE 1 - REAL MEN.
These are guys who at a young age became inspired to train and get big. maybe from some movie like predator or conan or wherever. they read all they can on the subject, workout hard as f**k, eat healthy, train until they puke. this usually goes on for years. then maybe after 4-8 years they realize there IS a limit to genetic potential, after they have reached this limit or nearly reached it, after they have exploited all that knowlege, diet and training can provide, they decide its time to do something 'more'. these are the guys who have established a STRONG base, strong bones, strong tendons, and discipline. they become jacked, huge, ripped, pros and a variety of other terms. i have nothing but respect for these guys.

TYPE 2 - The LAZY little wannabe
These are the guys who train mainly to get laid cause they cant seem to get any p***y. they dont really care about being strong, healthy, or manly. they see some big guys and want it now. gimme gimme gimme i want now. they workout for a month, maybe 2 and start taking tons of shit. they can never seem to understand why they dont get respect, why they arent strong, why they just dont have that 'look' that hardcore trainers have, and why they seem to get injured all the time. they dont have that 'training base', they never learned whats its like to squat in the morning in the high school gym and puke ur guts out, they never learn discipline. NO RESPECT

TYPE 3 -Stay in shape/healthy
People who train to stay in shape because they didnt build strong tendons because they acted like a TYPE 2 :confused:

I've learned at the young age of 30 to just focus on what I'm doing in the gym, and not give a damn what every other douche bag is doing. Unless of course someone is stuck under a bar, I'll go help. Otherwise, I get in, do my workout, get out.

What about people who use gear for medical reasons? Yes, some people train for their own gratification and others train for others, to look good, but what about people who train for both? What about the guy who wants to look good and trains year round but just moderately and uses a little "help" to add a few pounds for a season? There are the types you describe, but a thousand others as well. I don't think it's wise to wrap people up and put them in neat little boxes and label them with "respect" and "no respect" because you may find yourself in one of those boxes one day (maybe already).

I think that a reasonable person could list many categories of people who work out. Many of us fit in neither of your two narrow categories and you haven't a clue why any one might work out and use gear for any thing but the two narrow categories that you define. The world is much more complicated place than will fit into your two simple minded categories. You offer up two choices as if there were no others; in logic that is called a false dichotomy. I am 60 years old and I am certainly a real man; I do what I do because I want to do it, I set personal goals to satisfy my personal needs. Your approval is irrelevant to me precisely because I am working to satisfy my self and not you.

I'll remain content as a Type A.


BTW. Type 2's are not lazy. So they lift just to pull strange. They're still goal oriented.
 
Well, the guys who only want to train for the aesthetic benefits of lifting weights usually don't last, and their "passion" usually coincides with there ability to get gear, so usually when their source dries up, so does their gym membership.
 
i have NEVER got laid ONLY because of my muscles. It never hurt any, but it was never the sole reason. im not gonna say i dont train to grab alittle strange as lets face it a one night stand is ALL physical attraction. but believe me that reason doesnt make me puke when i squat or deadlift.
