from the cost of fuel to the cost of groceries, etc. its taking a toll on my hobby $$$. effecting any of you guys yet??

Being a college student, working part time, and going to school full time, yes this is having a huge impact for me. The price of food was expensive enough for me when it wasnt what it was now. Living in SoCal gas is costing me almost $4 a gallon and will probably hit $5 by summer. We all know that eating healthy isnt cheap and neither is bodybuilding as a whole, however I try and look at it from another perspective this is an investment in ME and my health.

im lucky i only have to drive 10 mins to go to the grocery store and 5 min walk to work or i would be in big trouble.

I think you have to know how to shop to beat it. What I mean is for example i go to 3 different stores for groceries.
Wal Mart- main stuff like tuna, cleaning supplies
Aldi- chicken, eggs, milk, vegetables. You would really be surprised how much you can save.
Food Lion- Odd stuff on sale

It has made a difference. And gas.....well i can say this, i have had to drive from charlotte, nc to birmingham,AL every week. One thing that really saved me on gas was actually using the cruise control and keeping a moderate speed. So if you travel try it. Thats a 7 hour ride and it took me 3/4 of a tank of gas!

I hear you on being in college...my weekly grocery money doesnt stretch anywhere near as far as it used to. I do a lot of walking when it is clear out and take full advantage of the dining hall.

They (scientists but mainly big oil managers) have a new theory called the peak oil theory which states that oil production has peaked and it is all downhill from here on.The price of oil actually shot up this week based on peak theory talks alone. These theorists are saying oil may quadruple in price very quickly but this will be necessary to reserve or extend the supply.that means the price of petrol ,food ,plastics ,flights, will skyrocket to unlivable levels.Imagine the crime and poverty.

Some people believe it will be shortlived like in the 70's oil shortage but that is doubtful.

The cost of 1 barrel oil hit $110 yesterday or the day before I forget but it was the highest it had ever been....we'll see if that theory will happen soon enough, hope to jebus it doesnt

I'm lucky.... everything i need is close by, including two Golds Gyms. In fact a tank of gas lasts me almost month. Gas is around 3.30 a gallon right now.

Food is easy if you plan ahead. I eat a pretty bland diet and i always buy in bulk. I also hit all the sushi places too. Most all of them are half off before 3pm.

I don't think things will change anytime soon. If any of you guys have been to Europe or for that matter, anywhere outside the US, we have cheap fuel prices. Things could be a lot worse....plan ahead and save your money.

Aldi for chicken and tuna and I buy cheap protein powder in bulk.

it seems like the onlythings i spend my money on is food and gas... and let me say this, i dont have alot of money to be spending on either lol

bump for a college budget....this shit is killing me :( plus im so busy i dont even have time to work :(

Got to get a job as a traveling sales rep

Company pays for all my gass, and the car payments. Honestly, I lucked out because being out of college just one year, I don't know how I would afford gas in addition to college loans etc especially with all these rising prices. Still paying way to much for food, but can handle it because of the money i save on gas. I can't imagine it will get much better though...

Right now in Canada im paying 1.10 per liter. That approx 4.18/gallon.

Its estimated here this summer it will hit between 1.40-1.50 per liter this summer.. thats 5.70/gallon.

Considering that i live a mear 30 minutes from the USA border, i wouldn't be surprised to see your prices reach Canadas in the next few years. I cant remember the last time gas was 3/gallon here, id but a monster truck :D

We've been in recession for a lot longer than the fed admits to. Doesn't affect me much though. I was poor then. I'm poor now.

Ride a smaller motorcycle like they do in Europe. That 4 dollar gallon doesn't mean much when you get 80+ miles to the gallon on your dinky 250.

Yes because I was riding the booming economy via the stock market, now the game is too risky, I lost a lot of profit not $, and got out a few months back. Now things are so rough its very difficult to make $ and very risky. Besides that I rarely drive so that hasn't affected me at all. Food overall seems to cost almost the same, I see eggs a bit more pricey and some veggies, that is about it.

The thing about the situation right now is not enough people are having babies. This sucks for me because i am a nurse in the nicu. Less people have sex less babies we have to take care of = more cancelations. and then on top of that i work a weekend package job which means i am contracted to work fri sat sun and get basically 150% on top of my base pay but no paid time off so if i get cancelled i am out money. an example is this weekend i got cancel on friday for 4 hours then sat i will get cancelled 4 hours then another 8 hours on sun so bassically i get half a apy check on this weekend that makes things tight. thank god i can get a part time job during the week (that pays decent) to supplement until we get busy again.

thats weird because it seems like everyone i know is having babies. i think there are 2 many people in this world to begin with and some of them should go to make room.
