the time it takes to drain a pint of blood?

How much time does it take you to give a pint of blood?

Not from the time you walk in 'till the time you walk out.

The actual time it takes for your body to drain a pint of blood.

I give blood every two months. And I'm almost fanatical
about keeping accurate records and when I go in to give
blood it's no exception; always record my blood pressure,
body temperature, and resting pulse and how long it takes
me to give a pint of blood.

I have been told that hydration is one of the, if not the
biggest factor in how much time it takes. Being young
does not hurt, great veins helps (I have these) and squeezing
that ball they give you helps but I thinks it's mostly to give
you something to do.

Today was 7.5 minutes. It's been as low as 7, as high as 11.

Is it just me or does anybody else keep track of these sorts
of things?

Obviously you give blood,good on you,15 - 20mins for myself.And i do 88mg/day aspirin a day.Thinner blood, easier to pump.

wow thats unreal. i average 20minutes, but then i have very low blood pressure so how much this factors into it i'm not too sure. maybe i'll drink a few pots of coffee next time and see how fast my heart goes and try and beat your record

i cant for some reason every time my viens are hit to give blood or get a iv i pass out like a lil biotch

It would take 20 minutes. Due mainly to taking Lasix daily and BP lowering meds with COREG. I am always concerned on how long it take me to even fill a couple of vials! I feel like rolling my thumb down the vein like a tube of toothpaste to help it go faster.

I asked the nurse about this the other day when I was giving blood. She said men average about 6-8 minutes, and women a bit longer (I think she said 8-10?).

I am type O-, and have been donating since Highschool regulary. I have never gone over 12min, usually betweeen 7 and 9min. I have moderate blood pressure, nothing high and nothing low, I also have decent veins.

Seems a little OCD to me to keep up with that. BTW I donate once every 55 days.

Honestly i have never ever given it any thought!!

I do notice that my blood is dark and i generaly do fill up a bag faster than molst that are in their with me but I have never wondered how long it actualy takes
