I went for my annual check up as I do every 2-3 months. I have a history of high cholesterol (both on and off cycle). As well as high bp. Now by high I mean like 145/85 not sky rocket high. Now I have been clean for about 3 or 4 months at least. The strange thing is my bp is still running slightly elevated. It seems like my normal bp is still slightly elevated all the time even when off for like 6 months. I was thinking I may have renal artery stenosis. I confirmed with my Doc and she says " I doubt it, it is more common in young women". I work in the medical community so I know what she is saying. Anyways I think heredity is agianst me here. I will probably have to add in another bp med like a beta blocker when on cycle as I already take lisinopril (ace inhibitor) for my bp. Anyone else out here have the same problem with bp and cholesterol.....If so what forms of treatment have you undergone. I would hate to end up like Mike Matarazzo did and If come s down to it ill be training O'natural. Ill just have to quite competing. Thanks.

<~~~ has been natty for 1.5 years, its not THAT bad, your just a lil less veiny and women arent as scared of you anymore :D

arginine, taurine, green tea are good supplements for BP

as well as plenty of EFA's

Im sure you've forgot more on this topic than I'll ever learn :)

I have a friend with bad cholesterol that's undergoing Niacin therapy and it's really helped his values. I myself have added it to my regime - for several different reasons. 500mg, 3x ED.

He takes 2g all at once at bedtime. He takes an aspirin 1/2 hour prior and it prevents "flushing" feeling.

I went to the doc today and BP was 160/100, doc said it was a little high but nothing to worry about, hope this helps

well 110/60 is ideal

?

160/100 is very dangerous. Are you sure it was that high? I would see another Doc if he said that.

1st his assitant took it and told me it was 160/100(im not sure if she is new or not but that was my 1st time seeing her) then the doc called me into the room and checked it again his self and said it was fine (but didnt give me any #s) Phil ive been going to him for years, he knows my whole history, should i still get 2nd opinion?

You can get the no flush niacin...it works great along with OMEGA III's and RED Yeast Rice as well as with the appropriate liver protection.

Been on the niacin....

Ive been on nicain "delayed release pellets" for about 2months. Have not seen a real significant change in lipid profile. Any other proven methods anyone.....anyone......Thanks.

I can tell you what I did which worked for me, about 4 months ago i tried to donate blood and was rejected due to HBP, i think i got like 178 over 122, it was bad, I was just comming of a somewhat harsh cycle and was running post maintence test for months, so I stopped all this after i found out it was so high, and changed my diet to very clean whole foods, lots of carbs/cals/protien, fruits/veggies. not a dieters diet, just with the goal if getting healthy. it has worked i got blood presure done again today actually and it was perfect. I just blame it on the way I ate before and the constant gear. a break from it all with healthy diet, and my body forgave.

I was wondering if some of our resident pros could give some ball park figures on what a competitive amateur or pro's blood pressure values would be?

Well - - I'm not a pro, but can tell you BP varies per individual. What's normal for one is not the same for another. At my last BP check when I was at the doc's, about 2 weeks into a cycle, it was 110/55. if your BP is high, it's an indicator that something is outta whack.

It was kinda funny when the nurse checked my BP. She started to put the arm band on me, then promptly quit and went and got the BIG cuff - LOL   :p ;)

I will say this...

Im sure at least 75-80% of Pro bb have no idea what there bp is. You see a lot of pros are just genetic freaks. They have no background in medication use and or pharmacalogical information. They just grow well when they take "stuff". Im not sure but if you dont really know what your taking etc... why the hell would you care what it is doing to you???? Im not saying all pros are this way. For example Phil Hernon is one of the pro BB that knows his stuff all the way around and actually cares about his health. Also some of the "pros" are very educated just like anyone else but they just dont get checkups or lab work or anthying because "what you dont know cant hurt you". You know that old chestnut. Just know that when we all play fire dont be suprised when we get burned. Just my take on it all.

Well - there were plenty of good suggestions on what to take to help this:
Niacin
Green Tea
Taurine
Omega 3's
Red Yeast Rice
eating lots of fruits and veggies

Myself, for your reasons and others of mine, I need to add back in Taurine and Grren Tea. Besides Creatine EE, Pircetam amd the like - I take 12 pills 2x ED and 6 1x ED. I just spend a bundle on non-gear stuff and tend to go off something for a while to ease up on the pocketbook. But - you really can't compromise your health!

If you go every 2-3 months, it's not really your annual check up.

:)

Actually...

I go to the Doc for blood work and BP checkup every 3 months. I guess you could say routine checkup as annual means yearly but you get the point. I also take my own BP everyday at home. Im in the medical field also.
