Was talking with a guy at worktoday who used to compete some 20yrs ago , still a big guy and still in decient shape. We were disscussing dieting and drug differances between now and then and so on. The topping came up about if I was goning to do an off season bulking diet , I said no mostlikely not as I'm happy where i am size wise and we disscussed that.
He basic theory is that for a good bulking diet you use simple math and your lean body weight to figure out the cals , BWx2 for protein , BWx1 for carbs and BWx.5 for fats
example , if your reaosnbly lean at 250lbs you would need
500g protein
250g carbs
125gr fats
Stating that you get your fats from whole dairy , red meat and nuts , your carbs from complex sources like oats and grains and the protein from meat mostly.
he says its pretty easy to adsjust the fats up or down by adjusting what kind of beef you eat (ie-80% , 91% and 95%) , he reccomended eating beef with each meal also
Anybody every use a thought process like this setting up their diet and it work well for them?
Granted its been 20+ years since this fella has competed but from the pics and stories I've seen and heard he was doing somthing right
