i am 225 at 11 percent now... have gained 27 quality pounds from Nov 2009 to April 2010. (have been training for 6 - 7 years)

i am crusing for the last 6 - 7 weeks ( therefore just mentaining my lifting poundages).

i have not lost any strength(at least at 90 percent of my best) but then there are a few unusual things i am experiencing during the cruise period as per training is concerned.

i train one all out intense set/ 2 - 3 exercises/ per muscle group.

problems:-

my leg workouts
Squats 1 x 135 x10
1 x 225 x 10
1 x 315 x 8
1 x 450 x 8 to 10
leg press 1 x 700 x 30 to 35 reps
leg extension 1 x whole stack x 10 - 12 reps
leg curls 1 x whole stack x 10 to 12 reps

i could do this very well during blast( 16 to 20 weeks)
however during this cruise period, its getting very difficult to even go from squats to leg presses.
1. Prolonged extreme breathlessness.
2. Heart rate takes around 15 mins to come down to normal so that i can start with my leg presses after squats.
3. Extreme burning sensation in my quads (unbearable) after Squats i know the difference between the right kinds of burns and these unsual types... which stays for atleast 15 mins.

however i dont experience this at all during my chest shoulder tricep days.
or Back biceps days.

would appreciate your input.
thanks guys

what where you doing for legs during your blast period ? Same workout ? or where your reps on squats lower than the 10 reps you are doing, during the cruise ?

700lbs on the leg press for 30-35 reps are alot and I can see why you would have that crazy burning after that...

my workout is just the same during blast as well as cruise.... the only change i made during cruise is increased my rep range on squats
ie i go for 12 to 15 ( cruise time) whereas i was doing 6 to 8 during blast period...

as you can see my blast was 18 to 20 weeks.... i gained some good amount of muscle... the only way i can "mentain" that amount is by "mentaining" the lifting poundages to a decent level during my cruise period... however there is always a risk of injury ... so i just tried to increase my rep range for squats..

but this increase in rep range is a fucking killer....lol

my strength has gone down on leg presses as blast time i was able to do 700 for 30 to 35 reps...
and now i am only able to do 700 for 25 to 27 reps.....

i think i should include some extra cardio ... during this cruise period... lets see if that helps...

I wouldnt worry about your performance trailing off a little, your performance is just gonna be a bit worse when taking lower doses of AAS.

The high heart rate is not the best, but squats and leg presses do the same to me, I just settle faster than fifteen minutes. More like 5.

Have you had your bloodwork done to check HCT and Hemoglobin?
What is your normal or waking or resting heart-rate?

Bro, you could be just overtrained. The only time my heart rate gets like this when squatting is when Im missing sleep or overtraining. Then, walking up stairs will do it. Trying to lift the same and recover the same while on a little cruise as when you all the advantages of a blast, is tough. It's great that you've maintained so well. But it's normal to lose something on a cruise...strength, endurance etc.

my resting heart rate is 64/min ...just calculated
i`ll get the tests done around 17th this month before i start my new blast.... the unusual thing is that its 15 mins .... i have to lie on the floor.. just to get ready for my next exercise....

i will keep you guys updated regarding the tests

some times i lost the voluntary control over my legs..... the other day i did my usual heavy leg workout... came back home... was standing near the refridgerator and was calling some one on the phone....and all of a sudden boom...i fell
i was down on the floor.... lying ... my friends heard it... the came there picked me up..and the same falling thing happened... some 3 more times... i was like WTF....

Mmmm. I would be interested to know what your blood pressure is. What you describe is consistent with a high red blood cell count (measured by hematocrit level). You only experience this on leg days because squats are uniquely strenuous. When you have an excess of red blood cells the oxygen carrying capacity of the cells decreases and the blood itself becomes more viscous and hence harder for your heart to push into finer capillaries (hence the increased heart rate and breathlessness). The diminished oxygen carrying capacity combined with the higher viscosity challenges the perfusion process. As I said, what you describe is consistent with a high hematocrit but we can't be certain unless you have your hematocrit measured.

yup... this was what is going on in my head too... i think its the raised haematocrit levels.... how ever i`ll get it checked this 17th.... i`ll let you know guys....

thanks a ton man...
