I got back from Vegas on Monday night and Tuesday started to feel like crap. Trained legs on Tuesday, ate some dinner and went to bed, felt pretty bad. Woke up wednesday morning with a bad head cold, and just generally felt horrible. Didn't work out. I still feel bad today, but better then yesterday. What's your guys take on training if you are sick?

DON'T DO IT! You will only prolong the illness and infect those around you.
 
Maybe you picked up some nasty bug on the plane? Even though I fly routinely, I can't stand it. Like clockwork, I seem to end up with something head & sinus related. Nasty, nasty air in those planes!

When I am ill, I usually wait until I feel like I'm 80% + to recovery before I train. If I don't, the added stress of intense workouts will keep me from getting better or I get big-time sick. Certainly no joy in that...
 
I look at it as a layoff, and don't feel too bad about it because it's good to take a layoff every now and then. I usually still train if I don't feel all that bad, it just depends.
 
When I was young and didnt know better, I used to train when I was sick and more often than not I would end up feeling worse the next day. A few times I ended up getting really sick because of it. Take the time off till you feel better. YOur workouts will be subpar too, and wont really be intense enough to do much anyhow.
 
I figured it would be a bad idea to train. I guess I will look at this as a week long lay off and get back in the gym on Monday.

a long time ago a good guy named BIG KIWI gave me some advice....
he said, as long as you are not throwing up or passing out or have a high fever and just have a cold, go train. you may even feel better. if anythiong you will be able to maintain insted of loosing gains.
and you know what??? he was right. after that a few times i went to the gym feelin like crap just to maintain and had a great workout. and did feel better about having gone and trained. damn he was a good guy, i have written him a few times snice he got in trouble....but i miss him. he had so much good advice. and is just a good kat!!!!
