Caffeine (from coffee, tea, sodas, chocolate, candy, medications, etc.) raises cortisol and lowers DHEA. [9]

I love my coffee though!!! and I love iced tea in the summer! I can't get instant decaf tea here that is not lemon flavored (YUCK!)
My wife won't let me get decaf coffee.

of coffee NO DECAF! no sugar just alittle cream. I drink coffee
and hot tea all the time. Forget the decaf, it's like drinking
pain thinner.

Exactly.

I like to think that the positive workouts I get in because of this stimulant negates any small side effects.
 
They say caffine can actually raise insulin sensativity as well. I dont but any of this. Most of these studies are not that accurate and most dont tell you the amount needed to cause the problems is over 10x of what most people use. Sure diet soda can cause cancer, if you drink 10gallons per day of it.
 
Decaf? What's the point? :p Give me a strong cup or two of black coffee a hour before my workout and I am jacked and ready to rock and roll.

I think you mean caffeine can lower insulin sensitivity.
 
Hmmm maybe i read it wrong but it said it can cause you to gain fat, so I presume lower insulin sensativity would cause less fat gain right? maybe not? Im not sure.

im pretty sure its the other way around.... higher insulin sentivity would cause less fat gain.
 
As a diabetic, I can definitively say insulin causes weight gain. So increasing insulin sensitivity will also do this.

Sorry to interject here off topic but I am trying to contact rmtt. Inoticed the Aikido pic for your avatar. I also train and have some bodybuilding/Aikido training questions.
 
I thought if you raise insulin sensitivity, then your body requires less to do the same work, thus causing less storage.

Its a good thing, right? Insulin sensitivity. Its like the opposite of insulin resistance I thought.
 
Having increased sensitivity means that your body will more likely store more nutrients in muscle than in fat cells.So insulin resistence is the opposite of this - it will increase the chance of nutrients being stored in fat cels.
