I'll try to keep my story short. Most of my life that I actually checked my heart rate it was always rather high when running or any other high intensity exercise. This year in the midst of my hormone issues that started in Feb. I developed a pain in the chest that was constant. Almost like a knife was stuck in there. It never went away. It would make me grab my chest at times when I forced myself to exercise to try and lose the weight that was coming on at a fast pace. One day in July, I was shooting basketball and the pain was unbearable. I said now this is too much. Looked up some cardiologist and found one that took me the next day. He ran me through the mill which is what I wanted. When starting the stress test I asked the lady/nurse, what is a high heart rate for my age. She replied, "anything over 200 and we take you to the hospital." I joking grabbed my head and said.. oh lord, don't say that. On the stress test it got to 218.
Needless to say I've seen it higher with a heart rate monitor around my chest. Upwards in the high 220's. The pain I had was from Mitral Valve Prolapse. Very common. He prescribed me Bystolic which is a beta blocker. Now I have to try very hard to reach the 180's. Best medication ever prescribed for me. Love the Dr.
So, what is your highest you ever noticed?
My age: 27
