An extended release drug or an immediate release version?
Assuming they are metabolized through the liver ofcourse

examples:
Effexor XR or immediate release Venlafaxine
Wellbutrin XL or immediate release
Adderal XR or immediate release amphetamine.

The REASON i ask this is because my friend whos a nurse practitioner not officially a doctor, told me that an XR release wont stress it anymore than regular release versions. I had thought the opposite!
Im confused and need an expert opinion.
If your just assuming, dont post.
I want someone to answer who knows for sure.

As far as Niacin XR...

1) It stresses the liver more.
2) It is not as efficacious as regular niacin.
