workout in fasted state

I'm currentlly in a cutting plan, and due to daily schedule thought about doing my weighlifting as soon as I wake up and then followed by 60min low intensity cardio, and only then my first meal.

Other option here was doing the cardio 1st, then a liquid protein and followed by the lifting session.

what are the generals thoughts about fasting lifting sessions? I've seen some guys doing it, but not much...
 
In a fit of productivity a few years ago I tried the 5:30 am lifting routine. It did not work well for me. I had a decline in reps and strength compared to later in the afternoon and tended to rush workouts. The cardio, no problem. It could just be personal with me as I have worked out in the afternoons for 25-30 years. It is appealing to get it out of the way in the morning. I will say that my day starts much better at work when I have been up and doing my cardio early.

I just feel that although that most folks test levels may be peaking, working out at your most depleted food wise is not the way. Many better informed members here can give you better guidance than I can, just giving personal experiences.

Just sip on something throughout if it hinders your performance.
 
insaned, I'm a newb here but wanted to give my opinion. I'm 39 with 3 kids so working out 1st thing in the AM is the only true way for me to guarantee that I get in a workout...so I workout at 4:30 AM. Pre-workout stims, other drinks are out for me but I have gotten used to it and my workouts are pretty productive. Leg days are particularly difficult though, as they tend to take most out of me.
 
If I have to do that I wake up and have a protein shake with some sort of blueberry or faster absorbing carb source 30 min before. I CAN'T workout fasted. I even use to wake up at say 4:00am and eat a whole meal and nap for a hour or so then go.

Yeah, the leg days seem pretty hard this way... probably I'll give it a try and see how it goes. Since this is for cutting, strenght drops are not my 1st concern, but if the workouts reach a point where they are going with too low weights, I'll eat or sip something before, something simple as whey or even a bit vitargo.
