this doesnt happen every time i squat, but there are days that when i go under the bar my right wrist becomes very sore. im not sure exactly how to explain it, but i have pain in that wrist when i squat, almost as if its being bent back too far. but this only occurs on the upper portion of my wrist, not at all towards my palm. does anybody else experience something similiar to this, and if so what do you do to help with it?

I had it on occasion, but it never became an issue. Seemed to go away just as fast as it came. My guess is that you strained it doing something else, and now its tight and hurts when being stretched out.

possibly. some days it will be killing me and i have to stop my widowmakers early because i think its going to give out, other days i have no pain whatsoever. idk if its carpal tunnel or tendinitis or something though, im just worried if thats the case. ive had it on and off for about a year and a half now.

I wear wrist wraps when squatting heavy to keep my wrists stable - that might help you.

Sounds like carpal tunnel to me. I've had carpal for the past 14 years and when it began I had the exact same thing happen to me. I ended up outstretching my arms and bracing the bar against my wrists rather than trying to 'hold' it. It's gotten progressively worse over the years and I probably need to see a specialist...I'd get it checked out to nip it in the bud if in fact it is carpal.

Wrist wraps or safety squat bar/ Hatfield bar. I carry the bar low on my back and start wrapping knees and wrist from 315 on up.

Same here... I also put my arms out as straight as possible.. I touch the plates.

Some guys will also get it up into the elbow and wear elbow sleeves. check out atp.com and get some wraps.

ive tried that but it feels too awkward for me. ill try the wrist wraps and see if that helps

Start focusing more on static stretching post training from this point on, specifically target upper body and lats. Also indirectly over time as you build up your upper back muscles, it will require less control with your hands as it as a better base to rest stable.

as of right now i do all of the DC stretches. are there any others you recommend? when i go light i notice i can actually take my hands off of the bar and balance it, but when im getting into the 2,3, 4 and 5 plate range i always grip tight. in addition, i do a low bar squat opposed to a high bar, so idk if that makes a difference.
