Year end celebrations

The economy killed the holiday party this year where I work. It was usually held on the first or second Friday in December but no one said anything at all and the reservation at the restaurant is made months in advance. Looks like if I want to party it will be on my dime.


The Animal barbell club seems to be moving toward doing something every season. The NJ chapter just had a gathering on the 5th. I saw this clip about the Plano, TX chapter for this weekend:

I am heading out to Cali to see the Rose Bowl...my wife is prego so I know our New Years Eve will be quiet...be fun to head to parade and then game on Jan 1

where do you work(dont have to say company but what industry,mine was financial->)...interesting you say that..company i just left always had dept parties and a big all company party...the company did very well this year and cut all holiday parties! "to be in line with the street" bunch of scrooges!!ha...i in nj also, worked in nyc

My company's profits are up 17% year over year (and we're talking revenue in the billions here, not chump change)....and here in NC we're up just over 30% this year....and they're still not doing the holiday party this year! They haven't had it the last 2 years with the recession in full swing- even though we were extremely profitable all the way through - but I thought for sure they'd do it this year. I'm not heartbroken at all about it....I'm not a big fan of putting on a suit for a party and kissing ass all night....but some people really enjoy them and it sucks that those folks won't have one.
