Pre-Workout Worth It On Cycle?

On cycle or off cycle?

I think the right question should be if you are on a cutting diet or not, if you are getting enough calories and good rest, or not, etc.

But I never understood the pre-workout shit. Drink coffee, caffeine, or EC. Much cheaper and you know what you are taking, and also more effective.

They are more effective? How many preworkouts have you tried? What if a person wants to get an insane pump on a certain training day? Would coffee be better than citrulline? What if ECA suppresses his appetite too much? What if he doesn't like coffee? There are thousands of preworkout products are they all shit?

I do agree with some of your post though so don't take my post the wrong way. I love coffee and caffeine only but I have also experimented a lot with preworkouts and personally can get much more from certain ones than I do from the 3 things you listed. I never understand when guys totally dismiss something (that could be 1000 different ingredients/things) because they never use it themselves. Everyone is different though.

Regardless carrying on from TOO55 this thread is ridiculous in many ways. It's just a preworkout. If you like them take one and if you don't just have nothing... or a coffee etc. To think if you should have one on cycle or not is logic I totally don't understand. As Dugbet posted if anything it would be more about your diet and current goals/condition. Meaning I understand when guys want to avoid stimulants most of the year but when dieting hard with low calories they choose to add a preworkout to help them train hard and keep them going because energy is low. If your budget is that low that you are worried about paying $30 for a preworkout powder just don't buy one and have coffee (obviously homemade) or some caffeine tabs. Although you can get some decent preworkouts for approx $1 per serving so I don't think that is too bad. Even Excelsior (bought in the US) at 1/2 scoop per session is great value for money and that is one of the most expensive ones.

Never liked the heavy stims in commercial pre-workout, derivatives of meth and shit... no thx
 
I use 200mg caffeine and 25mg ephedrine. If im going to be doing cardio after i throw in maybe 7.5mg yohimbine hcl. i dont think i can recall the last time i used a "preworkout powder". Actually....no... i think the last preworkout i used was ultimate orange circa 2001

If I get whey, I want the active and effective ingredient: protein, same with creatine or a pre workout. Caffeine and some other stimulant are usually the most decisive element, so why do you want 15 more ingredients?

Paying $ 40 for sups with exotic ingredients doesn't make sense to me when you can buy a pound of caffeine and 300 grams of DMAA (if you can't get ephedrine). With that you will have a pre-train for many years.

The life time is limited, also the amount of money and experimentation that a human being can carry out. Why spend time, money and resources looking for something different in a sea of shitty products when you can play it safe?
 
I use them every now and then if I need an extra boost. I don’t like preworkout with crazy stimulant blends and beta alanine.

L-citrulline is a staple for me though. I take between 4-6g a day. Great pumps and endurance. Plus it has a lot of other benefits. Gotta be careful if you use it alongside cialis though. The combo dropped my blood pressure scary low recently.
 
i use all year my own preW, no importance if ON or OFF : EAA 10g + leucine 3g + citrulline 8g + creatine 3g + taurine 1g + vitargo 20g + carnitine inj 300mg
 
I stopped using pre workouts around the time they banned jack3d, and craze. I have a couple of different raw bulk powders i'll use from time to time like creatine, agmatine, citrulline, etc. I personally like to use modafinil and caffeine if I want a strong stimulant boost. If one were to try to quantify things into cost vs. gains then the pre-workout powders aren't worth it. They are meant as convenience for getting a quick boost. There are stronger options if you want a mental boost or better pumps.

The way I see it you have two options. Ignore ingredients that can be at your fingertips and in your product to make your workouts better and keep being ignorant about certain effective components of great pre workouts..

OR

Start reading up and learning what some of these items are useful for and their effective dosages.


It's really annoying to see a lot of these threads on this board lately. Stop getting someone to try and spoon feed you their opinion just so you can shoot it down with your own pre-conceived notion. The internet is a cool thing..and so is this board. Read up.

To the OP.... I can't believe this is a real question or thread. Find things that make you better and use them to your advantage. Pill, potion, powder, or cannabis..whatever.

I do like my legal high. It's a good time is what it is.

When my DMAA eye drops land, I'll hit you up. We will train legs in my Hyperbolic Time Chamber where one year inside the chamber is the equivalent to one day on the outside.

We'll change our names to "Quad" and "Sweep". People will tell us to skip leg day. They'll immortalize us with white hot memeage.

I get the vibe a lot of these "Is blank really worth it?" are really guys with limited disposable income justifying to themselves why excluding certain supplements is financially smart as opposed to asking if these things really work or not.

My feeling is these sorts of posts are from guys coming into the question with a bias of "40 Bucks?! 40 Bucks?!" when they can buy a bottle of test for the same price.

The health and performance effects arent really what they're here for. They're here to look for like minded members agreeing with their position and even better if that stuff is really a "waste of money".

Sure there are plenty of ways to waste your money but a pwo seems an odd one to point out until you realize they're good with home made coffee. This is really about the money imo.

I use unflavored cluster dextrin (10g currently), citrulline (5g), and country time lemonade (sucrose, 10g) in my pre/intra workout drink lately.

Exactly no idea why people want to take meth before doing exercise good way to give yourself a heart attack. Coffee and bud you dont need to be tweaking to lift

I don't consider taking amino acids to be a "pre-workout." I take 2 or 3 grams of taurine and creatine, I'm not getting energy, high or anything that people expect to find in pre-workouts, legal ways to get high.

On the other hand, you could use 40 different ingredients, but which ones would really be effective? Only creatine has proven to be helpful over time, and it isn't even for everyone.

your exactly right you will never have heart problems if you take these health/performance enhancers mixed with your stimulants and meth analogs and combine them with aas.
